In which I try to take a massive tangle of related thoughts that have been rattling around in my brain for months and pare it down to "the important part" and hope it's still coherent.

This feels like kind of a non sequitur because the problem here isn't the mechanics, it's the terms of discussion. If course there's nothing special about mechanics when talking about them in a white room devoid of context, but mechanics when implemented don't exist that way.

It's an artistic representation of a circulatory system walking through a kitchen, as drawn by Dave Gibbons and written about by Alan Moore. It happens a lot 'round here.

it is CRIMINAL that the new pokemon game introduces a guy whose entire job is to return lost poke balls to you but they didn't take that opportunity to bring back Ball Guy from galar

Here's hoping this and yesterday's post can clear up enough headspace to get me back to working on my WIP TTRPG.

I am confused and humbly request explanation

Deck list from Pokemon TCG Pocket. Psychic energy. We've got Mega Altaria as our main attack plan, supported by a pair of Sylveon EX and one each of Indeedee EX and Tapu Lele. Notably, the Eevees are the new ones with only 50 HP, so I have a copy of Lisia to grab them or Swablu. Other Trainer cards are pretty normal: pairs of Speed, Research, and Ball; plus singles of Sabrina, Cyrus, and Red.

Threw together this deck just now after blowing pack points on a second Mega Altaria. Only tried it twice so far, but it feels good.

You should try Pokemon Infinite Fusion. It's a free fan game where you can fuse pairs of pokemon in any combination you like. Hundreds of thousands of new friends to make. ☺️

This really is the thing.

Because the early games played well enough to attract fans of the gameplay, but then that gameplay degraded over the years as the focus shifted. Gameplay fans lost something while their design-fan neighbors ate better and better, but to grieve is to be labeled a hater.
