To be completely fair I doubt that the Ukrainian military is particularly woke.

(The trans girls designing their weapons systems probably are though)

Is restricting your best posts to bluesky some sort of incentive system?

I wish people who rushed to defend science would learn the first thing about it.

Like how do you get so far in life without knowing what "confounding" means in a ststistics context?

Hi Liam, I'm afraid it's impossible to enjoy the original Star Wars trilogy outside of the context of the Disney Kenobi TV series.

Thoughtful patriotism is a winning political strategy, and I'm glad that left wing politicians haven't abandoned it.

It feels like a lot of the responses to the article have been a bit intellectually dishonest, tbh

Like yes, thank you for finally recognising the absurdity of the term 'African American' but are people just now going to pretend it isn't commonly understood as a euphemism for black?

The gap between black african and carribean brits is pretty persistent across multiple areas iirc, and it's a similar story for pakistani and indian brits.

Does make me wonder if there is an initial immigrant halo effect.

It's crazy how the founding fathers exactly foresaw the Trump administration and gave us the tools to defeat it.

There are actually some DAOs for reddit users to sell their individual data collectively.

(The proposed income allocation is via weighting income by reddit karma, which on the face of it seems like one of the most comically darkly dystopian concepts ever.)

Fortunately in many areas public experience is captured through survey data, which is fallible in it's own right, but serves as an important reference when considering these types of debates.

I think there are cases where the majority individual experience can run contrary to macro trends, and in many cases the public perception alone can be an important aspect, but the nature of it is the discussion often just gets captured by discourse itself and self-referential spirals.

This is how I feel when string theorists are like "okay nut the maths works put if you model as having 13 different dimensions, but most are just really small" and you know, maybe?

Did you really watch a whole sequence about piloting a crude analogy of a cock and balls down a narrow channel trying to get their "emission" into a tiny hole in the end and conclude it was anything else???

Thics is all made up anyway (it's true, google it!) but virtue ethics makes a lot of sense as a bunch of heuristics to maximise shared utility.

But also it's the kind fo things that you'd selfishly want to encourage in others anyway.

As a general rule rights protect those things (and by extension people) that are unpopular, else they wouldn't need to be rights.

This is obviously flippant but it is curious why transracialism is frequently not seen as a valid form of expression, but also why exceedingly few people appear to express it - all of the objections I can think of would also apply to transgenderism and most of us consider that valid.
