My 3 and a half star review of Send Help. "This is the sort of movie I would be happy to get from Sam Raimi every 3 or 4 years until he's ready to hang it up. It's a delight to watch an old pro show you all their old tricks still work just fine and that they still know how and when to use them. He and Rachel McAdams work really well together. She understands his unique style and what he's going for. It's a committed performance and she's clearly having a ball playing such a fun and well-written character. It's disappointing, then, that Raimi couldn't give her a better ending. It's very pat and it doesn't resolve things in a satisfying way. Also the CGI boar looked pretty bad."

I mean the manner in which she's comporting herself at the end with her golf career, etc. seems pretty monstrous for someone who should still be feeling extremely guilty about what they did. I think Raimi's point was that she blossomed into the amoral, self-interested monster that her boss was.

Yeah I loved that stuff and I really wish it had gone with a more interesting angle than "she transforms completely into a monster", but it's such a treat to get even 3/4 good Raimi movie than nothing at all. He's my guy

Send Help was mostly very good and classic Sam Raimi but if you ever heard someone say "It was just us and like one other guy behind us" about going to see a movie then today I was that one other guy. I am that guy often. I love da movies 🍿
