Personally I think it’s not uncommon for a team with goalie pulled to get extended pressure with their best offensive players on the ice, but if you think that’s “leaving Reimer out to dry” cool! Sens gave up 15 shots in regulation, feels like they did their part!

Alex the expected goals were 4-2 for Ottawa. Staal’s is a straight shot from the strong side at the faceoff circle. A breakaway, yes, but like even Shootout/penalty shot rates are like 30%, and I guarantee Staal isn’t one of the first 5 shooters for the canes.

The fact that they are proving themselves to be top of the lineup players at less than 8.5 annually for the next 6-7 years is so great for this team. The Dorion years hurt in a big way - still, when you consider dadonov - but those signings will continue to be huge.

It’s a fun question. I think what has become more and more evident is that this is their team. Obviously 7 is the captain and a very effective player, but 18 and 85 drive this team every night, and at both ends.

Dylan Cozens on pace to match his career best points is about as good as that trade could have worked out. Also can’t forget he was a year younger, a million cheaper, and we got a second rounder in the deal.

It cannot be overstated how poor and barren the cupboard is for this team.

Might even be worth testing the market on 19. He’s due a new deal soon, but his value right now is super high given his contract.

Agree. They aren’t making the playoffs, at any rate. I also think you approach 28, and see what he wants to do. As great as he’s been, he brings back a better return than any of the guys listed, and he deserves a chance to go play for like Colorado or somebody, if he wants.

Josh Norris seems like a genuinely awesome guy and I feel for him. But he’s had 3 separate injuries since the trade. Meanwhile, Cozens is providing steady, consistent, 2nd line production

It’s that the other teams in the division and conference keep winning and picking up points when they can’t win. There will just be too many teams to pass.
