I've heard so many horror stories from disabled people about this, as well as having some of my own. It really all comes down to, how dare we expect to be treated as human beings with hobbies.

I remember watching this for the first time and thinking it was sweet. Now, I look at it and think, "This is an abomination." It really has become my personal measure of how far I've come in understanding disability and all the shit that comes with it.

Emmerdale actor and activist James Moore spoke to me about the character Walter White Jr. from Breaking Bad, how annoying he is—something I’m told can’t be emphasised enough—and why he was inspired to try acting at a time when he felt his own disability would make it impossible.

I asked @tinywriterlaura.bsky.social for her personal thoughts on Disability Pride Month: “[For me] It means recognising that suffering and joy can both exist in a life."

Agree, my Pride comes from building myself up from cut muscles and learning to live around my disability.

He absolutely wants to use it as a shield and shouldn't be able to! Let him own his shit!
