Hi Lisa Nandy! I’m a BAFTA winner from a small town. Instead of asinine questions like this, why not tell us how we can continue to make a living in the eviscerated creative sector over which you notionally preside?

One of several reasons why I actually despise the people who continue to support him and his party.

I know I shouldn’t, but their ignorance is pushing this country into a slurry pit with no easy way to escape.

It’s a sign of how worried they are about Polanski.

They thought (mistakenly) they were fighting on just one front, and so attempted to win back support by emulating Reform’s key (only?) policy.

Now they’re fighting on another front that is highly compromised by their approach to the first.

Exactly.

As with Rayner, they’re desperate to brand a female Labour minister as incompetent and dishonest.

It’s clearly an administrative mistake - I’m guessing, probably made by the people entrusted with looking after the details.

I’ve criticised Labour a lot recently. But not for this.

We must stop pretending that everyone who claims asylum is a *bad* person, which is much more like what is happening at the moment.

One bad apple doesn’t make the whole cart bad.

The state of the economy is irrelevant to the polls. The complete lack of a compelling narrative that ordinary folk can relate to is a much bigger part of the problem.

Alongside cosplaying Reform on immigration.

And picking on the wrong groups.

And failing to tackle high profile issues.

Not seen any ‘explanations’ from Labour that hold any water at all.

Labour should have slapped Farage down as hard as possible. Instead they chicken out.

Yet another bad call.

Whatever Starmer’s shortcomings might be, he won’t wear this.

A mad proposal from the Conservatives today in the Sentencing Bill, to abolish the independent Sentencing Council, and transfer all sentencing guideline powers to the Justice Secretary

This would, by the look of it, end the idea of an independent judiciary & any separation of Government and Courts.

But surely that’s whole point of Reform?

If you didn’t have views that are ‘completely out of step with modern Britain’ you wouldn’t want anything to do with Reform.

It goes a long way to explaining their warped views on stuff.

To use the word ‘luxury’ is just plain wrong - another Labour comms cock up.

If they want to move away from the upsetting immigrant rhetoric, thats certainly not how you do it.

That’s an almost possible challenge because Reform don’t really have any policies.

But the rhetoric being used by people like Mahmood has moved a lot closer to that used by Reform than many traditional Labour supporters expect.

No idea - they may. It’s the length of time they’re up that’s the issue for me. It detracts from having a special day of remembrance if they’re up for the best part of two months.

Couldn’t agree more.

We’ve had giant poppies strapped to our village lampposts for about ten days now. And I know they’ll be left there for a week or two after Remembrance Day.

The focused solemnity of remembering our war dead on a single day replaced by weeks of performative street decoration.

I don’t think it’s just the left wing that’s coalescing around the Green Party.

Plenty of centrists are deeply disturbed by the rhetoric around immigration and by the party’s unwillingness to tackle the increasing influence of big money and big business.

They’re also looking for a new home.

Seems to me that they don’t understand what’s happened to their core vote.

Yes, their traditional working class voters have become disillusioned with the main parties and have largely shifted to Reform.

But, until they have voted in a Reform government, and watched it fail, they won’t shift back.

Absolutely. Please get on with it.

The Cult of Farage will no doubt swallow this.The rest of us - the majority - will not.

Keep pressing - more will emerge.

It’s not news and the only current they’re interested in is the one between Calais and Dover.

When a nation of 69 million people completely loses its shit over a few thousand desperate people taking their lives in their hands, by crossing one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes looking for sanctuary and safety, then things have gone very badly awry.

It’s not a crisis!

When all their party has to offer is division and hate, it’s only a matter of time before that division and hate affects their party too.

They’re just nasty people now being nasty to each other.

And certainly not a party of government.

I live in a different world!

I doubt he even knows what IQ is.

They’re trying to work out how you punish someone when all they’ve done is to say the quiet bit out loud.

The bit about ‘getting the economy growing’ is their ‘long grass’ excuse. Be years before it gets properly implemented in the private sector. If ever.

They’ve got the headline they want - now let’s move on.

On a wider point, the focus and clarity of the comms stuff coming out from the Green Party - on whatever subject - is a million miles better than the Government’s recent sorry efforts.
