Don’t park in the bike lane, don’t slow-roll your car at me when I’m crossing the street Ask me about HK3RS

We once owned a 3 BR bungalow with cathedral ceilings (14 ft at the peak) one open floor plan for the LR/DR/kitchen

That end of the house always felt light and airy - but the hallway to the bedrooms/lav always felt dark in comparison

We had a roof window installed and the change was 🀩

I’m thinking of setting up an over/under for how high the snow piles at that fence line will be this winter

For now, pedestrians can still squeeze by between the curb and fence

But … as I’ve heard said: Winter is Comingℒ️

You’d think that the least the city could do when they re-direct pedestrians across the street is to provide a safe way for them to cross

1/7 @senators.bsky.social and Claridge (Malhotra family) just inked deal for LeBreton Flats. In 2031/2032, puck drops β€” and Lansdowne retail business model drops with it. Ottawa Council and City Hall have some serious thinking ahead...

I expect that summertime weather like this has become the new normal

There’s an opportunity lot re-fill at the new facilities at Westboro Beach

But the city is *way* behind the curve

Every intersection where drivers can make a right turn across the bike lane is an adventure

Adding cycling infrastructure is supposed to take some of the anxiety out of riding in an urban area

This is, arguably, some of the most dangerous cycling infrastructure in the city

The breeze was nice - when we were in motion

But after about an hour, the water in our bottles was about as refreshing as a golden 🚿

Yet again, almost hit by a driver turning right (southbound) at Laurier/O’Connor

The city only using data on the number of people hit/injured/killed means they are missing the elephant in the room: the number of pedestrians/cyclists who avoid injury/death by luck and/or a very loud shout

Hate to break it to you, but with respect to the policing of traffic in downtown Ottawa, it’s already a failure

Opaque license plate covers and overly-tinted front side window glass should be low-hanging fruit for enforcement, but the police just don’t seem to care about that stuff anymore

Eliminating RToR needs to be the first step in downtown Ottawa

Also need to:
- limit heavy transport truck operations (especially Elgin)
- add pedestrian scramble at specific intersections (Somerset/Elgin, Somerset/Bank)
- crosswalks at every intersection on Bank and Elgin
- universal 30 kph limit

Based on driver behaviour, compliance seems to be optional

… I know it’s not possible to completely engineer out risk, but the actual environment in which this infrastructure exists is a less-than-ideal one

And *that’s* what needs to be engineered for
