It's been a v rough year for me with a full breakdown & trying to get back on my feet financially since then. If you come across this post it would help me *so much* if you could retweet my post aboveπŸ‘† about my Etsy shop-it will put the things I make in front of more eyes. Thankyou 🌿

It's #InternationalCatDay today. So let's walk around pretending we're kings and queens. Oh wait, we do that every day anyway!
Jokes aside, it's a day to celebrate cats for all their awesomeness.

A copy of the book Drystone – A Life Rebuilt by Kristie De Garis, propped upright on a drystone wall surrounded by bright yellow and green garden plants. The cover features five colourful stone shapes with the title text layered across them.

Today I held the finished copy of my book for the first time. Three years (or a lifetime?) in the making, and in just a month, it’ll be in readers’ hands.

'Drystone – A Life Rebuilt' is out 7 August.

Screenshot of a promotional webpage for the book Drystone: A Life Rebuilt by Kristie De Garis. The page features the book cover with bold, abstract stone shapes and a portrait of the author wearing a brown jumper against a muted green background. The text describes the memoir as an unflinchingly honest and unexpectedly funny account from one of the few professional female drystone wallers in the world. It outlines themes such as racism, trauma, ADHD, addiction, and motherhood. A competition box at the bottom offers 40 Times+ members the chance to win signed copies.

This week, The Times are doing a giveaway - 40 signed copies of my book! If you are a subscriber, you can enter.

I have a rubbish signature, so don't get excited about that part. The book is great though.

Handwritten quote on a white sheet with an illustrated face at the bottom and pink hearts around the text. The quote reads:
"If you love a book, write a nice review. It gives the author encouragement for bad days when they want to take up scorpion petting."

Illustration and lettering by Debbie Ridpath Ohi. A paintbrush lies across the page on a wooden surface.

On Monday our instagram account was hacked and then deleted. We received a ransom note to recover it; obviously we couldn't and wouldn't pay, and therefore lost thousands of followers. Meta support was useless. But we're BACK with a new account: @littletollerbooks. Can you follow us there and share?

Good news. According to the Met Office weather improves tomorrow. And according to my Irish ancestors spring started on St Brigid’s Day. I think she’s been a bit slow getting things going this year. πŸ™

Love this mural on Govan Road in Glasgow. Created by the street artist Smug and painted in 2022, it was inspired by Govan-born Peter Barr.

I grew beans and peas in toilet roll tubes. By the time it was warm enough to plant them out their roots were coming through the sides of the tube as well as growing through the bottom.

If you're confused about food, like:

➑️Seed oils
➑️Gluten
➑️Meat
➑️Carbohydrates
➑️Alcohol

Here's an enduring truth: if some of the evidence is for, and some against, it probably means it doesn't matter very much.

Eat a wide variety of whole-ish foods you enjoy, and stop worrying.
