Review: 'If I Had Legs I'd Kick You' Is Like 'Uncut Gems' for Moms Rose Byrne plays a mother at her wit's end in Mary Bronstein's jagged black comedy.

That Monica Vitti retrospective going on in NYC right now might help...she was a pioneer of big hair

Considering that Marya herself didn't know about the marriage, when they say it was "not documented", they weren't kidding.

Theory that Stacy's Mom, Jessie's Girl, and Somebody's Baby are all the same person. The timelines could match.

A film that starts like a rocket!

My favorite of Sirk in his thriller mode is still LURED, though.

Gerald "Gerry" Gates, 1950-2025 A tribute to spending one last month with my Dad

I wrote about watching movies with my Dad.

The movie is way less interesting as a thriller than as a study of two couplesβ€”and which one has a dynamic Hitchcock clearly thinks is healthier

We don't talk nearly enough about Harris's place as the last of the Hitchcock blondes.

Especially since she also serves as a foil for Karen Black as a character whose boyfriend is TRYING to make her a Hitchcock blonde, but it's not taking.

Put two cinephiles in a room and you'll get three pronunciations of "Frank Borzage"

Yeah, it'd be totally contrary to her character.

But counterpoint: look at it.

I approve on principle these days of a blockbuster director spending $200 million to tell fans to go away and try watching THE BAND WAGON instead. But intriguing concept or no, my god, the onscreen result is so inert.

I know that Francis Ford Coppola's TWIXT is a blend of several fantastical ideas, but honestly, the one that's sticking with me is that a haunted, out-of-the-way small town forgotten by time has an In-N-Out Burger

I have to admit, what makes me curious is how they'll handle Margot. I found her vague on the page, or a conduit for perceiving men...the story gave a very sharp characterization of a middle-aged creeper, but I wasn't at all sure what "a Margot thing to do" would be. And on film that's a curveball.
