My reaction, as well - in the version of the story where they were unaware that this work had already been done, that’s a pretty substantial bit of ignorance to be pleading when your job is to know what’s going on around you.

Accepting that there even is ‘an issue’ around men ‘getting laid’ makes everybody involved sound gross.

It devalues the people who apparently owe these men their laying, and frankly, it’s utterly unimaginative in what it expects from adult human men.

We can be better than to need sex to behave.

I fully have not read the piece but did immediately recoil at the quote and that framing.

I have many very real qualms with attitudes on the left, but inadequately commodifying intercourse like it’s some reward we need to keep shovelling at the men to keep them happy is not one of them.

Saying “the subject of men getting laid” really does say the loud part out loud - sex isn’t an awesome thing that two people choose to do together, it’s a feeling that I decided is owed to me, it’s all about me, and if my dick’s not wet, someone else has to answer for it.

Utterly sad and weird.
