I'm so sick of discourse from supposed allies about where trans people went wrong.

Where we "went wrong" is that billionaires spent unimaginably large sums to attack us repeatedly and major media outlets have spent a decade piling on.

Just finished “Atmosphere” by Taylor Jenkins Reid, which is amazing and everyone should read it. It has occurred to me that it’s basically historical fiction. That’s set when I was 15-20. In a place I worked when I was in my 20s. I feel old.

Yes your taxes should support disabled people.

They should support homeless people.

They should support those living in poverty, children and the elderly.

This is literally the purpose of taxes, and I would far rather support those who need it than continue to enrich the elite.

100%! As a school librarian, I didn’t restrict books by age based on my experience as an early reader (as well as the experience and research of others). So much of what I read young gave me the chance to be who I am today.

Newsom has shown repeatedly that he will throw trans people under the bus at the first opportunity. I can speak personally to the impacts of not being able to source hormones and the benefits of knowing I have enough to allow me options for access. There is no valid reason to veto this bill.

He “declined to sign” most of the relevant bills, which will then become law in 12 days (unless he vetoes them within that time). At best, he doesn’t want his name on the issue either way, which is such a weaselly thing to do (but predictable). I only mention this because I TIL it.

Western media has completely ignored this story.

I will remind folks those images of Nazi book burnings aren't burning just any books. They're burning the library of Magnus Hirschfeld; a gay, Jewish doctor who created an institute dedicated to LGBTQ sex education and healthcare. And a man who pioneered gender affirming care surgeries.

it doesn’t help that Newsom has turned huge chunks of the Dem’s own base against him by publicly courting rightwing fascists & attacking trans people.

why should any Californian support a guy consolidating power who openly talks about wanting to harm marginalized people?

Y'all don't understand how fast experienced farm workers are.

The average tomato picker pulls 650lbs per hour.

At $20/hr, that's $0.03/lb for labor.

The point of getting rid of municipal transportation fares isn’t to make people drive less anyway. It will never do that. It’s a false premise.

It is safety. It is to make it so folks can move freely without arbitrary roadblocks & without having to worry about being Eric Garnered over 2 bucks.
