Exactly.

Very good point. They are terrifying vehicles unless you're inside one. And if a driver hits a child while driving they'll be haunted for the rest of your life. They are bad all-round.

😡 What's the problem? Longer than a WWII tank, larger than the average parking space, incredibly heavy and so high that children cannot be seen by their drivers, they aren't nicknamed "battering rams" by chance.

Cars that weren’t used much - perhaps second cars, were moved much further away out of the zone or sold. Short trips to get closer to the train station stopped - presumably people walked instead.

Very much so. Hackney & Lambeth boroughs both taken a very strategic
Approach to parking tariffs and reallocation of kerbside space. When controlled parking zones went in all around us, the kerbside became much clearer of cars.

When parents are afraid to let their children cycle, that’s not “choice” - it’s policy failure.
Unsafe roads + patchy Bikeability = less independence, worse health, more car dependence.

UPDATE: In fact latest research shows cars are stationary 96% of the time, not 'only' 90% of the time. Whereas kids tend to be ACTIVE 96% of the time... this balance was already way off, 6% more hammers home the issue even harder :/
