same motor traffic no safe infrastructure…
Hoarding blocking a cycle lane.
Gas mains, under a dug up cycle lane.
It looks like the cycle lane across the Primrose Hill railway bridge is going to be closed for a while.
Although the fire damaged building is one thing, the slow progress on the gas mains is very disappointing.

LAST CHANCE to support safe protected cycle tracks on Bayswater Road! ⏰️
Consultation closes Wed 4 February - have your say now 👇️
Its good to see more of the busy roads controlled by TfL being set at 20mph in London. These are where the greatest motor/people interactions take place and have the biggest potential to lower speeds and casualties for drivers and people outside of cars.

The video goes on to say "Westminster council now wants to remove a lane of traffic to segregate it”, when most of the route is already only one lane (see below). For the brief period it’s two, it's still single-file due to parking and loading. And it gets worse…

To the north of the bridge, there seems to be a dropped kerb going in for (presumably) a parallel crossing.
(One possible way that C25 will get to Waterden Rd.)
Self driving vehicles should not be given any slack for failure to keep people on the street safe.
Better instead to focus on ensuring existing cars and their drivers kill and injure no one.

Would a driverless car stay its own side if the road?
Or reverse for on coming car or cycle
I have observed that in north london many (now signalled) crossings have been moved further away from the desire lines ( often at junctions) where the original crossings were placed.
( bus stops too seem to moved further away from the tube stations )
If we valued the convenience of older and disabled people there would be crossings on the desire line to access the supermarket.
Older people carrying their heavy shopping don’t necessarily walk a hundred yards up the road to a crossing. Their journeys on foot should be prioritised. 🤷♀️

#wordsMatter
That is the fundamental point. And why anyone who cares about London’s Vision Zero goal that no one should be killed or injured on the road by 2041 is worried by driverless cars.
03.02.2026 09:10 — 👍 7 🔁 2 💬 1 📌 0Pedestrians are also programmed to “give way” to vehicles
How many times do you stop to give way to people crossing, who then stop and wave you through ?
We need a big public information campaign on road use and the law.
Remember these ?

A number of riders were issued Fixed Penalty Notices. I am pleased that the police are finally taking action on this and I have asked for these operations to take place on high streets across the whole of Redbridge. Many elderly residents and parents with children have complained to me about footpath cycling. Riders need to slow down, get off the footpath, and be considerate to vulnerable pedestrians. Use the road instead please!" It is over a selection of photos with loads of police walking through a pedestrianised area and in one, talking to a delivery rider.
These councillors make me sick.
Before posting this stuff, they should be forced to cycle the alternatives. For Ilford, it's either a full-on dual carriageway bypass, a series of service roads where you play chicken with drivers of the No.86 bus or chancing it through the pedestrian area which
