Ignorance of the law is NOT a defence !

If only the Government had the power to change the law. Mandelson and Mone will stay simply because it is a club that Starmer wishes to join one day.

Who else is paid by time AND distance to make a journey ?

I’ve been cycling in London since 1980, living in Islington where Cycle Islington (Part of LCC) formerly ICAG is having its 50th Birthday this year.

Yet like Eilidh, those choosing to cycle would still not be safe on the roads continuation through RBKC, Notting Hill.
same motor traffic no safe infrastructure…

Hoarding blocking a cycle lane.

Hoarding blocking a cycle lane.

Gas mains, under a dug up cycle lane.

Gas mains, under a dug up cycle lane.

It looks like the cycle lane across the Primrose Hill railway bridge is going to be closed for a while.
Although the fire damaged building is one thing, the slow progress on the gas mains is very disappointing.

Lowering Speed Limits Programme The Mayor and Transport for London (TfL) are committed to Vision Zero, eliminating death and serious injury from London’s roads. The Vision Zero Action Plan sets out our ambition and next steps to achieve this. It details our plans to reduce road danger, including

Its good to see more of the busy roads controlled by TfL being set at 20mph in London. These are where the greatest motor/people interactions take place and have the biggest potential to lower speeds and casualties for drivers and people outside of cars.

The video goes on to say "Westminster council now wants to remove a lane of traffic to segregate it”, when most of the route is already only one lane (see below). For the brief period it’s two, it's still single-file due to parking and loading. And it gets worse…

...Chief police officers, who are responsible for enforcement, acknowledge that many cyclists, particularly children and young people, are afraid to cycle on the road, sensitivity and careful use of police discretion is required.”

I see she hasn't removed MP from her handle. It's almost that she can't be trusted with what she says.

The 'currently dead end' future cycleway is unblocked over the bridge.

To the north of the bridge, there seems to be a dropped kerb going in for (presumably) a parallel crossing.

(One possible way that C25 will get to Waterden Rd.)

Self driving vehicles should not be given any slack for failure to keep people on the street safe.

Better instead to focus on ensuring existing cars and their drivers kill and injure no one.

North london street with cars parked either side, car straddling centre road marking

Would a driverless car stay its own side if the road?
Or reverse for on coming car or cycle

I have observed that in north london many (now signalled) crossings have been moved further away from the desire lines ( often at junctions) where the original crossings were placed.
( bus stops too seem to moved further away from the tube stations )

If we valued the convenience of older and disabled people there would be crossings on the desire line to access the supermarket.

Older people carrying their heavy shopping don’t necessarily walk a hundred yards up the road to a crossing. Their journeys on foot should be prioritised. 🤷‍♀️

That is the fundamental point. And why anyone who cares about London’s Vision Zero goal that no one should be killed or injured on the road by 2041 is worried by driverless cars.

Public Information Films Stop! Look! Listen! For decades public information films have been educating, persuading and above all warning us of hidden dangers.

Pedestrians are also programmed to “give way” to vehicles
How many times do you stop to give way to people crossing, who then stop and wave you through ?
We need a big public information campaign on road use and the law.

Remember these ?

Does there not need to be a change to the RTA to allow autonomous vehicles on uk roads ?

Last turbine on first commercial wind farm dismantled The last wind turbine of what was Ireland's first commercial wind farm at Bellacorick in Co Mayo has been dismantled.

Amazing example of the lightning speed of improvement in renewable energy

This wind farm in Ireland is getting an upgrade after 34 years

*EACH ONE* of the new wind turbines will produce more electricity than *ALL* of the 21 old turbines combined

Facebook post

"Councillor Khayer Chowdhury is at Ilford Town Centre

Last week, Redbridge Police held an operation in the town centre to tackle footpath cycling and moped riding. A number of riders were issued Fixed Penalty Notices.
I am pleased that the police are finally taking action on this and I have asked for these operations to take place on high streets across the whole of Redbridge.
Many elderly residents and parents with children have complained to me about footpath cycling. Riders need to slow down, get off the footpath, and be considerate to vulnerable pedestrians.
Use the road instead please!"

It is over a selection of photos with loads of police walking through a pedestrianised area and in one, talking to a delivery rider.

These councillors make me sick.

Before posting this stuff, they should be forced to cycle the alternatives. For Ilford, it's either a full-on dual carriageway bypass, a series of service roads where you play chicken with drivers of the No.86 bus or chancing it through the pedestrian area which

A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
