He is trying to kill us all

No one gave a shit if a gay man was lonely navigating a homophobic society. No one gave a shit if a woman was lonely in an abusive marriage. No one ever gave a shit if the Black kid in a white school was lonely.

But we all need to care about straight white men being lonely.

I'm not saying it wasn't ever annoying, tiring, or inconvenient when my kids would melt down. It was. But I also wasn't going to subject other people to it, nor is it fair to expect a small child to know how to self-regulate when they are tired or overwhelmed.

If one of those guys was the girl's dad, he's a POS. We used to bring my daughter everywhere with us, and if she melted down (she was sensitive to noise, especially when hungry or tired) he immediately scooped her up to take her for a walk or sit in the car until she settled down. Or we'd leave.

Eventually, the mom tries to approach the child who is howling at this point and she manages to scoop up the kid to drive home. Meanwhile, none of the men help at all - they continue to chat as if everything is hunky dory while the mom has to take her kid home. They were still there when I left.

This goes on for a while. The kid's tantrum is escalating. By now, I'm throwing visual daggers at these people who just want to ignore/pretend that this young child, who is probably up past her bedtime, needs to be removed so she can safely self-regulate without disturbing everyone else.
