Finished a book last night I should have DNF'd in the first 50 pages and am mad that the characters just said and thought basically the same thing for nearly 400 pages.

Getting very tired of reading highly-recommended 4⭐️+ books and getting hit with a bland setting, undercooked magic systems, and two main characters with no chemistry that fall madly in love at first sight for seemingly no reason beyond it being a "romantasy" story.

I want to love "cozy fantasy" and "romantasy" and they seem like lit subgenres I WOULD love, but unfortunately almost every book I've read that's marketed under those subgenres I've found to contain underdeveloped worldbuilding/plots and mostly insufferable characters 🫠

Trying to dust and vacuum before putting out the fall/Halloween decor but my allergies are protesting and Dipp starts screaming the second I stop giving him my undivided attention.
