Greece has officially suspended the right to asylum for people arriving by boat from North Africa. This follows a rise in landings on Crete since the beginning of the year.
PM Mitsotakis declared: “Migrants who enter the country illegally will be arrested and detained.”

Greece is planning to build a new pre-removal #detention centre close to #Thessaloniki with an estimated capacity of 400 spaces

It seems the location of the new centre has not been announced but the premises are due to be rented from the Ministry of Defence for 2 years from January 2028 👇🏼
