My wake-up was after the 2016 election. I realized then that there are some truly vile people in the the US and an even larger number who don't care. Until it affects them.

The President gets no special new powers during a shutdown. He can't eliminate agencies. He can't use federal funds to punish his political opponents.

As Trump's illegality grows during the shutdown, Democrats' spines should stiffen to oppose his corruption.

Republicans put forward a bill that eviscerates health care for millions of Americans by refusing to extend the Affordable Care Act’s tax credits—tax credits that nearly 100,000 of my constituents depend on to afford coverage.
