A thought I had today on a faction within the Eberron setting, the Heirs of Dhaakan. At first, reading their thoughts on the treatment of modern goblins by humans made me think of them as being like a more extreme version of what in the real world would be a decolonization movement.

If a person is bigoted towards a certain minority, regardless of how much they might have in common with that minority in terms of material interests, that bigotry can be weaponized by oligarchs (I could write a much longer post about how Tucker Carlson in particular specializes in that).

It's a logical consequence of "no war but class war". I mean, yeah, I agree with that statement in an ultimate sense, but people are not solely rational agents of self interest. They care about stupid stuff they shouldn't care about.
