Got my two bowls back today. They had to be refired because of some pitting/cracking in the glaze on the bottom. I'm thrilled with how they came out! #pottery #ceramics

Did my second blind tasting of 4 IB Macduff bottlings last night (2 SMWS and 2 Dramfool). The wild divergence from my notes and scores compared to the first blind tasting for these bottles confirms my suspicion: I'm terrible at discerning tasting notes 😅 Also, Macduff is tasty. #whisky #scotch

The inside of a brown ceramic bowl. There are grey triangular drips of glaze spaced along the inside of the rim, and the glaze turns a bit reddish in between the drips towards the top. There is a gap about 1/4 inch wide running most of the way down one side where it cracked.

The outside of a brown ceramic pot. Diagonal slashes of glaze are spaced along it, with irregularly placed whitish dots along the bottom curve. A large crack where the pot split is visible.

A short video of the pot from the previous two pictures being shown outside. The crack has been filled with epoxy mixed with amethyst crystals and galena crystals, although the galena crystals are not very visible from the outside. The filling shows translucent purple and pink when held up to the sunlight. Some silver cubes of galena can be seen in the crack from inside the bowl.

My first attempt at coil-and-throw failed in several ways, not least of which was my not scoring the first coil layer deep enough. This led to a big crack during firing, so I decided to fake-kintsugi it with amethyst and galena pieces in epoxy. #pottery #pottersofbluesky #anagama #ceramics

A hand made clock made out of brown clay. The clock is shaped somewhat like an angled teardrop that has been cut to provide a flat edge on the bottom. The face of the clock is offset to the right, and made by four light-colored marks spaced roughly at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 hour positions. The hands of the clock are thin black metal strips attached to a brass thread in the middle. The left side tapers to a smaller rounded edge that has 3 inscribed lines running at an angle and (mostly) parallel to each other. This section is a much lighter color than the rest of the clock, beginning with a grey edge similar in color to the hour markers on the clock face, but fading closer to the brown color as it goes further to the left in an ombre transition.

This hand-built ceramic clock is my favorite of the pieces I made in my last ceramics class. No glaze was used. Just some slip for the accents and natural woodfire. #anagama #pottery #ceramics #pottersofbluesky #clocks
