You know who *did* stop shopping at Target though?

Everyone else :P

My wife and I went from spending money at a variety of stores like Target, Sam's Club, etc. to almost exclusively at Costco for a bit over a year now.

Feels good to give the middle finger to corporations doing the wrong things, and Costco can have all our business the direction they're going. :)

100% yes to this. That tells everyone, "mind your own business - we *want* to compete against *all* women", and also makes those that won't get to compete in their own little bubble - a bubble that will likely have less competitors in it, and likely less prestige.
No regulations needed - just choice

Thank you so much for this! This was right on point for a book I'm writing at the moment - wonderful resource!

Yeah, that's just absolutely dumb. There's ways to speak to a broad coalition instead of catering to portions of MAGA, but back on the original issue, here we are with Gallego doing just that.

I tried to keep things civil, but clearly you're not capable of that. That's disappointing, as ignoring 'deplorables' is what set off this chain of events that led here.

03.12.2025 00:10 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I read it. Those people didn't magically disappear after 2020. The snow job on Jan6 worked on way more people than you think. Again, feel free to stay with your comfortable assumptions and discount anyone that doesn't agree with your world view. I guarantee you it's losing votes, but your choice.

02.12.2025 23:59 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Listen to focus groups. Look at their data. This is real, and it matters. Or don't, and ignore it. I won't, but you're welcome to.

02.12.2025 23:32 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

And dangerous to the country's future. Telling people that they're either deplorable, or that they don't exist, is not a winning political message with anyone other than other people that agree that those groups are deplorable or don't exist.

02.12.2025 23:04 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

It's ok, I'm perfectly willing to source my claims, as they're based in reality. I don't mind taking the time to search for a link. I'm getting my data from focus groups, listening to actual voters, and looking at those data, which I didn't save, but the wiki article covers it well enough.

There are a lot of people for whom politics isn't an intellectual endeavor - it's much more vibes-based. I'd say it's a mistake to write all of those people off. We can't just walk away from 6%+ of the electorate because we don't like how they decide who they want to vote for.

I'm not talking about the candidates. I'm saying that once you start writing off voters as 'lost causes' you've already lost. You might win in wave elections and have 53 or 54 senate seats, but you'll never have a movement, because you've decided too many people don't matter. Every voter matters.

02.12.2025 22:06 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I'm not saying people should change who they are to get elected. But if Dem's keep on discarding everyone that doesn't conform to exactly what they think voters should be, they'll just lose - with integrity. But that won't help anyone, least of all the very women and minorities they want to help.

02.12.2025 18:56 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I'm worried your right about Gallego. He's made his choice. But one politician making that choice doesn't make the choice for everyone.

02.12.2025 18:56 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

We have a good idea of what hurt Sanders in the primaries, and it wasn't Rogan's listeners.

If Democrats want to run to only win Dem voters, that's what they'll do. And we'll top out right around where we were in 2021. I'm not a politician, so not my call, but if aim higher.

02.12.2025 18:51 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

They don't have to work though or even make sense. Like Trump saying, "I'm going to lower prices." That's not something presidents do, not something economists even look at as a good thing, but it's what people wanted to hear so it worked.

02.12.2025 13:57 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I wouldn't use that word, but they definitely believe what's easiest to believe and don't look very closely, that's for sure.

02.12.2025 13:54 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Played an online game, and hearing someone with this issue calling out 'horrors incoming' over comms, and then, slightly stressed, 'get the horrors, the horrors are loose'...one of my fondest gaming memories. πŸ˜‚

02.12.2025 05:34 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The policies aren't the answer. Policies can be completely contradictory between candidates people will support. They just need to believe you're going to fight for what they care about. And yes, part of that is not coming off as a 'traditional politician', but that's just a part of it.

01.12.2025 23:12 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I don't disagree with that - and there's an argument for *how* you convince people you understand what they need and will fight for them. But those people didn't swing away from Bernie. They would vote for Bernie if they could *and* vote for Trump.

01.12.2025 23:12 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Your suggestion doesn't hurt either, but people have to believe you're going to fight for them, and understand what they care about as well. Vermin Supreme is "out of the box", but that's not enough to win.

01.12.2025 19:52 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Exactly. I'm sure we all sucked in our own way at that point, and young people today have more reason to suck than my generation did, that's for sure. But if you haven't moved on from that initial disappointment with the world in 15 years, the issue isn't the world anymore.

01.12.2025 17:41 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I would argue that you can get a lot of these people. Not the Candice Owens of the world, but your average Rogan listener...those people are gettable. You just have to show how you'll make their lives better. Bernie Sanders was a darling of that audience, because of that consistent message.

01.12.2025 17:40 β€” πŸ‘ 9    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

There's a path to acknowledging their worries *and* respecting everyone's rights and value as human beings, but that seems like it's just too hard to bother with for most politicians, and frankly most people.

01.12.2025 17:38 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

This is definitely what's going on. It feels like any nuance is gone from politics, so the only way people like Gallego see to acknowledge worries about social issues from the right and center-right is to completely agree with them.

01.12.2025 17:38 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I get it from teenagers, early-20's. We haven't left them much of a world to come into. But at 36...just be better.
