You basically pitched DC Black Label before DC Black Label became a thing. How long ago was that pitch? Was this before All Star imprint or after?

Like the 10 year old reader picking up their first Batman comic isn't going to care what Batman did 20 years ago or how it all fits together. They care what they are reading now.

To me, I think DC obsessing over "continuity" is silly, these are stories by various writers & artists created through decades. The modern reader is not the same readers from the 50s, 80s, etc.

It was also a way to bring back other Kryptonians like Supergirl, Zod, Crypto, etc. As well as merging silver age concepts with the modern era.

The smart thing the 2000s writers on Superman did was retcon it by revealing Byrne's Krypton were just fake memories. Like an inverse of Alan Moore in a sense.

I also think Byrne took the immigrant metaphor away from Superman with the whole birthing matrix and Kal was a full born baby on earth once the birthing matrix was complete on earth.

Such an underrated X-Men storyline, you and Lonnie killed it. I know it got overshadowed by House of X/Powers of X, bit I think X-Fans need to check this gem out.

I just want to get this straight. The conservative controversy around Superman is that… he’s the good guy in the movie, has a comic-accurate origin as an immigrant, and he’s nice to people? So… they just hate the character Superman? They’re just mad at the 87-year-old character Superman existing?

Grant Morrison's Batman run is still one of my favorite comics DC published in the late 2000s. Even though Batman & Robin is the second half of Morrison's overall run, it's still a great jumping-on point and it remixes 60s Batman with the modern era Bats, while introducing new concepts.

I love it.
