Why are transgender people not allowed to freely love the people they want to love?

Hello, My name is Dylan. I own Modern Times Cafe in South Minneapolis and have for 15 years. Modern Times is on the corner of 32nd and Chicago Ave; 6 blocks from where George Floyd was murdered, 3 blocks from where Renee Good was executed, and a mere neighborhood away from where Alex Pretti was murdered. After ICE Agents shot and killed Renee and then Alex, I was at the scene within hours. I witnessed hostile and aggressive armed goons sent by the Federal Government protecting each other from unarmed, outraged citizens. I bore witness to these atrocities and was tear-gassed, smoke bombed, and concussion grenaded alongside my neighbors. Minneapolis has been living through the abhorrent horror of the federally sanctioned abduction of our neighbors, public executions of people exercising their rights, and a targeted escalation of government violence. It's an atrocious and despicable occupation. We are entering yet another week of this occupation with a deep sense of dread and mourning. We absolutely cannot go on as we have. am sick of generating money for the soldiers in our streets and for a government that won't protect us - a government who is actively inflicting daily harm on its citizens. Effective tomorrow we are done making money for the fascists that occupy our city. We refuse to generate taxes under the guise of a functioning for-profit capitalist business aligned with government strategy. Amidst many strategic pivots and determined leadership, Modern Times has been barely soluble since 2020. Therefore, for the remainder of the government occupation, we will function as a free and donation based restaurant, Post Modern Times. Everyone is welcome EXCEPT ICE. Hours will not change but our menu will be smaller. Staff agreed to be present on a volunteer basis, working from shared tips and community donations.

In a broken democracy like the US, a lot of major decisions are decided in the judicial system. A "democracy" like that was bound to collapse at some point like it's doing right now.

I'm not saying electoralism is good, I'm just saying, at one point it did make a difference.

It will be a slow and hard lesson for you to learn, but electoralism in this country has been dead for ten years. It sounds ridiculous to you know, but you are eventually going to see that victories are won through direct action.

What it means? It means you have no idea to offer anything but completely ineffective resistance. By the way, I voted for Kamala Harris. Good luck voting when the judicial branch supports the establishment of a dictatorship.

Abortion access and gay marriage were decided at the Supreme Court. It definitely matters to a degree. Either way, electoralism is clearly not the primary driving force and never has been

There was when the judicial branch actually mattered, not anymore.

2016 was the last election that mattered due to SCOTUS. The beginning of the end started way earlier, probably during Bush's first term when he stole the election and got away with it. There's genuinely no point in voting for a "moderate" candidate anymore, hasn't been for years.

And he kept going out there. A hero.

Continuing on with this, I think that the folk religions are probably the most ideal since their dogma is loose, if it even exists

Random tangent of mine: If someone likes those religions it's fine, but I personally did not like any of the non-Abrahamic ones when I was going through a weird period trying to find different religions I liked. A lot of people have positive opinions of the dharmic ones, that's fine, but I don't.

I do not expect ICE to hit my neighborhood/general area, but I've been patrolling out just in case. I'm a little nervous getting involved but I don't feel like what I'm doing hurts anything.

We've heard a number of reports now of DHS agents at Whipple confiscating arrestees' phones and refusing to return them. Talked with a guy several nights ago who said they wouldn't give his back, and there were more reports of it last night. Just something to keep in mind/be aware of.
