If anyone else experiences this, or sees an account that might fit this criteria, do NOT DM them. Instead, do a little digging to see if the author's official website links directly to that account, and if not, hit report to make sure they don't scam anyone else!

There's a strange phenomenon that's happened a couple of times to me on here now just in the last week: accounts impersonating successful authors and asking to DM. In a couple of cases, I've gone to DM just out of curiosity, and ended up with them asking for my email.

Thank you! Yes, I feel like sometimes the vibes are allowed to override the actual seasonality to some extent.

But still, the autumnal, hide-away-from-the-world mood is definitely a feeling I have been writing from in my current style. I find it a very soothing atmosphere to write with, and it definitely works with the mood of the overall project, despite it actually being set in early summer 😂

I do find that my mood does affect my tone, but over the years, I've worked on reducing the impact it has so that I have a more consistent voice. I've found the most effective way of doing that is having a specific writing 'headspace.'

It varies, but I try to get a bit of both in as a general rule. I think overall, though, it leans more on the stormy side as I love putting my characters through hell 😈

Autumn is absolutely my favourite season, and goes with the mood of my WIP so well, so I'm really enjoying the moodiness of the view I have while I'm writing right now. It is a little jarring to see at this time of year, but the pathetic fallacy outweighs that by a lot!

Yes I love noticing small details! And yeah I've been very inspired by regional British accents so I want to have various characters to have distinct styles of speech. There are also some characters from romance language-inspired countries which has been fun to explore!

True! Though I was more interested in the use of colloquialisms and local dialect to try and make the neologisms I'm adding to my WIP sound more realistically grounded. Definitely won't be bringing in My Chemical Romance 😂

Indeed! I did overhear some interesting conversations, too, that might influence some of my dialogue.
