It would be great to have that because it would show us all that our govt can help us instead of companies

So far hes empowered the far right, passed policy straight from the cpc, alienated the left which helped him into office, weakened the services the country needs to function, aligned us with multipe fascist states and armed multiple genocidal states. Oh he also bypassed indigenous rights.

Death by a thousand cuts when we could just not be cut

So they could harm Canadians or they could harm Canadians.

There's bad in the world so let's just abandon good.

Can we please stop calling everything bait, people disagreeing isnt bait, people being stubborn isnt bait, bigtory isnt bait.

What plan? The plan to cower in a corner and let countries get taken one by one? The plan to buy american equipment we cant trust wont be sabatoged? The plan to sell arms to genocidal dictatorships that are closely aligned with the USA? To shack up with far right states that have murdered our own?

Did you follow the 2025 election at all? or the Liberal leadership race? I did. Carney promised a hell of a lot of good things and followed through with near none of them. Words dont cause action when you use words just to gain support.

21.01.2026 01:30 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

No, violating international law to invade a country to kidnap its president and install its vice president as the new dictator all without consulting the international community as its clearly about gaining control of natural resources and sending a message to the world, IS NOT A WELCOME OPPORTUNITY

May I suggest if you're gonna argue unity maybe dont do it under a PM whose entire time in office has involved him pushing aside the majority of parliment?

21.01.2026 01:21 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Hes not a dog, hes a human being, a dog can only associate what they did with the thing they understand as punishment, Carney can read why people are critical and learn from it, he can understand hes being criticized for something other than the speech itself.

21.01.2026 01:21 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

If he cant do the right thing because people criticize him giving a speech his actions contradict, for saying whats been said by the NDP for years the NDP he has refused to work with since they want to actually build solutions not trample rights, then he wont do the right thing anyways.

21.01.2026 01:21 β€” πŸ‘ 5    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

When I woke up this morning Carney had been PM for nearly a full year and he has failed to meet the mark at every turn, if I celebrate him for saying bold things without actual action then I would be making the same mistake so many of us made back when he ran for leadership of the LPC and for PM.

desperately needed change, he won and so far has only reinfored our neoliberal economy, hes cutting the public services, hes attracting foreign investment, hes doing public private partnerships, thats all what led us to everything from the housing crisis to our utter dependence on the USA.

21.01.2026 01:15 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

The same applies in reverse that the provinces have a responsibility to do whats best for their people even if it means going around federal jurisdiction. But to get back on topic.

Right now we are in crisis because of a half century of neoliberal economics, Carney promised change on that front

21.01.2026 01:15 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

No we arent as bad as the US, that shouldnt be the bar we set lest we become the US who set their bar to pass as famine ridden dictatorships. Yes the provinces bare some responsibility but even in the cases where provinical jurisidction occurs, the federal govt has a responsibility.

They backed him because he made labour part of the government for the course of the war, the tories managed the war labour managed the people.

But also as a reminder the people backed baldwin then chamberlain both of whom let the nazis grow in power.

Maybe the reason im so critical is I learned from history and know how a leader like carney plays out, maybe its because he refuses to work with others he supposedly shares common ground with. Maybe its because since i was a little kid all ive seen is leaders like carney fail and leave us worse.

21.01.2026 01:07 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

No amount of military equipment sold to genocidal American aligned dictatorships aligns us with the middle powers and none of it changes how much of a coward Carney has been. No amount of speeches without actual change will make us safer from the Fascists he desperately appeases.

he SUPPORTED IT! Innocent people died because of unverified claims being used by two far right countries to start a terror bombing campagin and our PM SUPPORTED IT!

20.01.2026 22:43 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

When the US and Israel launched joint strikes into apartment buildings in Iran due to the unverified claim of active nuclear weapon development, Carney didnt condemn the murder of civllians, he didnt condemn the violation of soverignty without a delclaration of war, the bypassing of the UN,

20.01.2026 22:43 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It's frankly gaslighting because when Greenland was threatened our govt shut the fuck up until the EUs major countries came out together in support, we meekly agreed with them after the fact. When Colmobia and Mexico were threatened we said nothing.

20.01.2026 22:43 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It's message falls flat when our PM pushed Americas want for NATO 5% instead of standing with the countries wanting to keep the well more than enough 2% (all of NATO minus the US spending 2% is a hell of a lot of force). Or when he constantly reaffirms we are still gonna be close to the US.

20.01.2026 22:43 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It's empty because at near every goddamn turn with Palestine hes taken Americas side up to and including being very interested at being a temporary member of the so called board of peace led by America and bypassing the UN while like the Munich conference, refusing to invite the country affected.

20.01.2026 22:43 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Carneys speech is hollow because he has not once met the moment in the way he claims it should be met. When international law was violated his condemnation didnt name the perpetrator but spent half of it talking about how its not that bad because we didn't recognize the violated's govt.

20.01.2026 22:43 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Fascism isnt defeated with a nice speech after you spent a year undermining efforts internationally. Fascism isnt defeated by saying the right thing when two weeks ago you did the opposite. Fascism isnt defeated by befriending dictatorships and leaving unaligned democracies to go it alone,

20.01.2026 22:43 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The EU and UK have acted and their weak responses are far braver than anything we have done in the meantime.

20.01.2026 22:29 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

We should expect him to actually stand with the international community. This speech is great but when he defended the violation of international law that was the invasion of venezuela while most of south america condemned it, it was the opposite of what he claims needs to happen

20.01.2026 22:28 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

You should see what Carney has done or I should say hasnt done. Because that speech might as well be a list of things Carney didnt do and things other countries were doing while we kissed the ring.

20.01.2026 22:25 β€” πŸ‘ 15    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Youd like the old NDP back? So the NDP that would be calling on Carney to do more and align his actions with said speech. The one that openly opposed fascism?

On this regard the NDP of now is the same as the NDP of old.
