May I suggest if you're gonna argue unity maybe dont do it under a PM whose entire time in office has involved him pushing aside the majority of parliment?

Hes not a dog, hes a human being, a dog can only associate what they did with the thing they understand as punishment, Carney can read why people are critical and learn from it, he can understand hes being criticized for something other than the speech itself.

If he cant do the right thing because people criticize him giving a speech his actions contradict, for saying whats been said by the NDP for years the NDP he has refused to work with since they want to actually build solutions not trample rights, then he wont do the right thing anyways.

When I woke up this morning Carney had been PM for nearly a full year and he has failed to meet the mark at every turn, if I celebrate him for saying bold things without actual action then I would be making the same mistake so many of us made back when he ran for leadership of the LPC and for PM.

desperately needed change, he won and so far has only reinfored our neoliberal economy, hes cutting the public services, hes attracting foreign investment, hes doing public private partnerships, thats all what led us to everything from the housing crisis to our utter dependence on the USA.

They backed him because he made labour part of the government for the course of the war, the tories managed the war labour managed the people.

Maybe the reason im so critical is I learned from history and know how a leader like carney plays out, maybe its because he refuses to work with others he supposedly shares common ground with. Maybe its because since i was a little kid all ive seen is leaders like carney fail and leave us worse.

When the US and Israel launched joint strikes into apartment buildings in Iran due to the unverified claim of active nuclear weapon development, Carney didnt condemn the murder of civllians, he didnt condemn the violation of soverignty without a delclaration of war, the bypassing of the UN,

It's frankly gaslighting because when Greenland was threatened our govt shut the fuck up until the EUs major countries came out together in support, we meekly agreed with them after the fact. When Colmobia and Mexico were threatened we said nothing.

It's message falls flat when our PM pushed Americas want for NATO 5% instead of standing with the countries wanting to keep the well more than enough 2% (all of NATO minus the US spending 2% is a hell of a lot of force). Or when he constantly reaffirms we are still gonna be close to the US.

It's empty because at near every goddamn turn with Palestine hes taken Americas side up to and including being very interested at being a temporary member of the so called board of peace led by America and bypassing the UN while like the Munich conference, refusing to invite the country affected.

Carneys speech is hollow because he has not once met the moment in the way he claims it should be met. When international law was violated his condemnation didnt name the perpetrator but spent half of it talking about how its not that bad because we didn't recognize the violated's govt.

Fascism isnt defeated with a nice speech after you spent a year undermining efforts internationally. Fascism isnt defeated by saying the right thing when two weeks ago you did the opposite. Fascism isnt defeated by befriending dictatorships and leaving unaligned democracies to go it alone,

The EU and UK have acted and their weak responses are far braver than anything we have done in the meantime.

We should expect him to actually stand with the international community. This speech is great but when he defended the violation of international law that was the invasion of venezuela while most of south america condemned it, it was the opposite of what he claims needs to happen

You should see what Carney has done or I should say hasnt done. Because that speech might as well be a list of things Carney didnt do and things other countries were doing while we kissed the ring.

Youd like the old NDP back? So the NDP that would be calling on Carney to do more and align his actions with said speech. The one that openly opposed fascism?

On this regard the NDP of now is the same as the NDP of old.
