Such a mix of emotions each of these prophets must have felt as well. Jeremiah wasn’t the weeping prophet for nothing. It’s easy to proclaim black-and-white judgement on your enemies when it’s “those people” but when it’s… us? That’s a lot more complicated.

I know the context is different, but if I were just reading it straight, Nahum 2 feels like a page out of the news from this week.

I guess it’s a bittersweet vindication that God promises justice for the abusive in Nahum 3. It’s deserved and long-coming (1:3), but also not cause for celebration.
