Remember that the current House essentially dissolves (they adjourn sine die) on January 3, 2026 right before noon. When they gavel back in, the House Clerk is in charge until the House elects a Speaker.
Point being, those in charge right now will not be running the show on Jan 3.

This is such an asshole thing to say about people who had their workplace assaulted and their lives threatened. We staff cared a great deal about this and tried very hard to do things immediately which you have not even tried to capture.

Shitting on people who were attacked for clout

Turns out when there's only one party seriously engaged in nonpartisan redistricting reforms, there's one party that has a lot more to gain from abandoning them

About 5% of Super Bowls are interesting games. The apex of American marketing is getting all of us to forget that every year.

The point of getting a warrant from a judge is to get an independent assessment and minimize abuse. Recent polling shows Americans are sympathetic to this: almost half think it's worse for one innocent person to face punishment than for ten guilty people to escape it.

Effectively then you'd have to have management buy-in, since it's almost always a majority party freshman in the chair. It's always driven me nuts though that for all the group pressure for back bench schemes for changing the rules they've never been pressured just to form a cabal on this.

Are either of these written into the standing orders @ringwiss.bsky.social or could a point of order by any member enforce them?

Number one beneficial "rules reform" for the Senate would be to use the rules.

This and eliminate dilatory quorum call.

Actually, @pbump.com there's probably a data visualization for Post operating costs verses AWS government contracts! Not to mention approval for secure defense cloud uses like CUI.

This is why FCPA was passed, because American companies were fine paying bribes for greater profit.

It's all about protecting AWS government contracts. When there's a new president he figures he can just retool again, like Zuckerberg always does.

one of my strongest beliefs is that we're in our situation right now bc some of the most prominent talking heads (e.g. joe rogan, andrew schulz) are learning about politics in their 40s and 50s, instead of their teens and early 20s, and we have to go along for the ride as they learn basic things

I think Bezos makes money on AWS, and the Feds have the ability to make AWS useless to the Defense Department. Destroying the Post and running it at a loss in a way that keeps money flowing to AWS is "worth" it

It's clear he is willing to lose money on the Post to use it to curry favor with the President and keep government contracts flowing to AWS.

I bet he will retool the paper again at great expense for the next president.
