Ugh, following the 5th district (I think). This basically makes most of the South a separate country as to what the 1st amendment even means and who has rights. (I know you know this, I'm just commiserating.)

I was born & raised in St. Aug. I grew up (80s & 90s) aware of the segregation since it was still in full practice but the violence in those images, just a couple of decades old at the time, was hidden from the present. I didn't even know MLK had visited St. Aug until probably high school.

Is it bad that I assumed the return to work requirement was normal? I think it's due to being in/from the South. (Also, it's bad.)

Flagler was still mostly being industrial in FL (building railroads, hotels, his own mansion). The college that bears his name was one of the hotels. But he did fund a lot of churches of various denominations. His daughter is entombed in one of them.

Anyone any idea what this might be? About the size of a £2 coin, obviously religious (the word 'resurrex' on the banner and the lamb) but I'm not sure what the letters 'CR' at the base relate to. A friend has several, perhaps intended to be worn (the ring at the top)? Any ideas welcome.

Ha! We just sent our monthly staff newsletter. It contains a little blurb about some interesting feature for the mo. We chose Guy Fawkes day being completely oblivious to the date also being election day. Remember Remember the 5th of November!

I think that's actually the Envy apples. They have a fine sweet taste but texture is mealy (do not like!)

Happened to my car. Fortunately only my breakfast was locked inside. The dumbest part about the whole thing is that the Tesla help people didn't know what was wrong (12v battery dead). I could have had Tesla service come to replace it rather than a $200 tow + $200 work. Now I tell every Tesla owner.

It's shameful but still pretty average for public libraries. My county, one of the richest in TX, just raised the min for entry librarian (supervises at least 1 pt staff) to $51.4K and made them exempt again about 1.5 yrs ago. 40 or 42 was my salary as asst. branch mgr at a neighboring county.

Nice! Looks very like a kolache (a Czech-by-way-of-Texas pastry) - butter-enriched dough made with milk too. Although the traditional is fruit filling, I would devour some custard kolaches.

to the next sheet/level. If not, you had to keep doing the same sheet until you could finish in time. Or maybe til the teacher got tired of seeing the same one from you. I was ok til the 4th & 5th grade. Then I rarely finished. I can do it, just slowly. Helped kill any affinity I had for math. 2/2

Timed test was (is?) a common drill in my elementary school. We had sheets or books with a page of 40-80 problems of whatever type of math but only that one (+, -, *, /) and a short amount of time to complete them. If you finished within that time with a certain accuracy, you could move 1/2

I haven't taught k-12 in 20 years and I still have a couple of cards from students. They still make me tear up. High-schoolers!🥹

That sounds amazing. Almost like they want people to vote.
