This is one of his best scenes, imo. It’s defiant and heartbreaking and a little hopeful. Stede’s not unaware of Blackbeard’s actions but he’s also aware that that’s not Ed. That’s not the whole man he’s in love with or in search of. Rhys totally nails it

The rest of the day was spent on Twt reading and sharing in reactions - a lot of soup talk, and of course the marvel that is MerStede and those final 2.5 minutes of ep 3

Stede very much wanted to be the one to take the lead but got flustered when his arms got hung up in his shirt. Ed helped him out of it, tossing it to the floor behind them as he kissed Stede, steadying him. Stede stepped back, took Ed’s hand, & led them to the bed nook where his confidence returned

Ed’s got the hiccups and Stede read about this once in a medical journal so he has an idea…
