A collection of biscuits painted in shades of brown, yellow, and red. The designs are medieval depictions of people, buildings, text, and symbols. Some designs are 3D, with shields, insignia, or symmetrical patterns raised above the royal icing base. Many of the biscuits look as though they are chipped or cracked. All appear old and dirty.

Almost done! I couldn’t leave out this edible assortment of medieval tiles from the British Museum.

The biscuit recipe was inspired by flavours from the same period: honey, ginger, and clove.

A square biscuit decorated with tiny rough squares of royal icing, creating a mosaic effect. In the centre of the design is a four-leaf flower in shades of red, yellow, and cream. Around the edge of the design is an intertwining strand motif, in shades of red, yellow, and grey. The surface of the biscuit is dirty to create the effect of an excavated mosaic.

Have you ever had the urge to eat a Roman mosaic? This one (the real one, not the biscuit) was found in London by MOLA archaeologists, and dates from the late 2nd to 3rd century CE.

A list outlining policies for the use of public workplace facilities by trans individuals. Key points include that trans women (biological men) and trans men (biological women) should not use facilities designated for the opposite biological sex, as this would make them no longer single-sex. In some cases, trans individuals may also be restricted from using facilities of their own biological sex. It suggests the provision of mixed-sex facilities where possible and allows for gender-neutral use of lockable single-person rooms.

New interim guidance from the UK "Equality and Human Rights Commission." Trans people are effectively banned from all bathrooms.

As a former child junior olympic-level runner, I have a few thoughts on the attacks on trans girls in sports. I ran for one of the most competitive teams in Southern California, and people who ran for my have gone on to become professional athletes. And these bans: they're fucking NONSENSE. 🧵

Excerpt from Rutgers University Senate resolution calling for a Mutual Academic Defense Compact. The excerpt reads: "BE IT RESOLVED THAT, the Rutgers University Senate urges the President of Rutgers University to formally propose and help establish a Mutual Academic Defense Compact (MADC) among all members of the Big Ten Academic Alliance; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT, under this compact, all participating institutions shall commit meaningful funding to a shared or distributed defense fund. This fund shall be used to provide immediate and strategic support to any member institution under direct political or legal infringement;"

This exciting resolution from Rutgers University Senate is exactly the kind of model I think higher ed needs: a mutual defense pact of, in this case, Big 10 schools. They call for member institutions to create a joint defense fund and make resources available to any member institution under attack.
