Zohran Mamdani: “Cops shouldn’t be able to maim and kill innocent people with impunity.”

Cops: “This is intolerable, we have to leave NYC.”

The biggest case of telling on themselves I’ve ever seen.

Know who really ruined the workplace?

A certain mega retailer who has put countless small businesses literally out of business.

tl;dr: Because troops were already blocked with preliminary orders in Oregon, this changes nothing on the ground immediately.

It is, however, now a permanent order — on both federalization and deployment — and is a huge deal. And, of course, will be appealed.

Trump stole millions from his own charity for kids with cancer which was public knowledge pre-2016. Stealing money from the hungry and most vulnerable is his MO.

After analyzing these statutory provisions, as applied to the facts in this case, this Court arrives at the necessary conclusion that there was neither "a rebellion or danger of a rebellion"
nor was the President "unable with the regular forces to execute the laws of the United States" in
Oregon when he ordered the federalization and deployment of the National Guard. 10 U.S.C.
§ 12406(2) (3).

The "precise standard" to demarcate the line past which conditions would satisfy the
statutory standard to deploy the military in the streets of American cities is ultimately a question
for a higher court to decide. Newsom, 141 F.4th at 1051. But based on this Court's application of Newsom to the factual findings at trial and the meaning of 10 U.S.C. § 12406 in light of history
and tradition, this Court finds that wherever this line precisely is, Defendants have failed to clear it. Therefore, for all the reasons stated below, this Court permanently enjoins Defendants' orders
to deploy federalized members of the National Guard to Oregon.

BREAKING: Following trial, Judge Karin Immergut, a Trump appointee, finds that Trump did not properly invoke federal law to call up the National Guard and "permanently enjoins Defendants’ orders to deploy federalized members of the National Guard to Oregon."

Apprehending someone with a kid there is not an unprecedented law-enforcement situation. Professionals understand this as posing a question of what to do with the kid: wait until a relative can pick them up? Take them somewhere? Etc?

To _not think about this_ is a CHOICE.

When Everything Is Criminalized, We Must Unlearn the Language of “Innocence” No one should be caged, tortured, detained, or deported by the state — all carceral violence is done wrongfully.

'Unlearn the language of “good,” “innocent,” or “wrongfully.” This is not just a rhetorical shift, but a shift in values. Let go of any preconceived notions you had about “criminals.”' -- @mskellymhayes.bsky.social

Finalists’ designs for Rekia Boyd monument in Douglass Park unveiled Killed by an off-duty police officer in 2012, Boyd’s death became a rallying cry for the #SayHerName movement. Wednesday's unveiling came on what would have been Boyd's 36th birthday.

"Boyd was 22 when she was shot by an off-duty police officer in 2012. The officer, Dante Servin, was later acquitted, and that verdict became a rallying point for the #SayHerName movement and a reckoning over how the city values the lives of Black women and girls."

Defendants' Position:
Defendants report the following regarding their efforts to comply with the TRO.
Defendants shall provide all persons detained at Broadview ("Detainee" or
"Detainees") overnight in any hold room, cell, or other space (collectively referred to as a "Hold Room") with a clean bedding mat and bedding with sufficient space to sleep;
Status: All bedding and mattresses have been ordered. It will take 3-5 business days for delivery, assuming no delays in delivery service. Defendants may need clarification as to what constitutes an "overnight" stay. For example, if the detainee is scheduled to depart at 2:00 a.m.,
bedding would not seem to be required for that detainee.

To show how bad things are — and, no, I am not even saying this is new, but — here is the latest from the Trump admin on conditions at the Broadview ICE facility outside Chicago.

A humane govt would be addressing bedding and food before starting detentions — not needing time after a TRO to do so.

WSU Suspends Hate Group's Medical Courses; Coalition Says Make It Permanent The fallout comes after Erin in the Morning reported that WSU extended medical credentials to content from SEGM—an SPLC-branded hate group.

1. After reporting on Washington State University's approval of continuing medical education credits for anti-trans SPLC-designated hate group SEGM, WSU has suspended the courses.

Now, hundreds of emails and dozens of orgs say they need to make it permanent.
