Yesterday, I joined the CA Tribal Chairpersons’ Association at the Tribal Leaders Forum to kick off the 58th Annual #CANativeAmericanDay.

CA is home to 109 tribes whose rich cultures, traditions, & contributions shape our state. Today & everyday, we celebrate their heritage & honor their legacy.

This new college will not only empower Indigenous students with resources and opportunity but also strengthen community ties and help preserve heritage for generations to come. #CaliforniaNativeAmericanDay

Today on #NativeAmericanDay, we honor the rich history, culture & contributions of California’s Native American communities. I’m especially proud to see @sacstate.bsky.social launch the new Wileety Native American College, which opened its doors this fall with 34 students in its inaugural cohort.

It was an honor to learn more about the innovative work @ucsfchildrens.bsky.social is doing to lead the fight against pediatric cancer and for changing the face of compassionate cancer care.
