Since the launch of the Homeless Housing, Assistance, and Prevention (HHAP) program in 2019, Alameda and Contra Costa counties have received $131.4M in grants, helping lift thousands of people out of homelessness. California saw a 9% drop in unsheltered homelessness in 2025.

My thoughts on the Governor's proposed 2026-27 State Budget.

Masked ICE agents have needlessly killed an unarmed person, and the Trump Administration is blatantly lying to us to justify it and sow further division. Time and time again, ICE has endangered and harmed communities, violating our public safety and security. Enough is enough.

As the incoming Chair of the Senate Housing Committee, I welcome the Governor’s commitment to continuing housing reforms, and to pursue new policies around housing innovation that will reduce construction costs which ultimately reduces the financial burden of homeowners and tenants. It is time to hold Wall Street accountable for the harms institutional investors are causing in the housing market. My constituents and Californians across the state have made it clear that housing affordability needs to be a top priority, and I look forward to working with the Governor and my colleagues in making this happen.

Trump’s unlawful actions to remove Maduro isn’t about saving Venezuela, it’s about imposing imperialism to gain access to oil. At a time when the federal administration has failed to address affordability at home, the last thing we need is more destabilizing foreign wars.
