Even if you ignore the dispatch work they do at every station and the significant portion of the network where trains are still manually driven, it's probably a good thing to have at least one member of staff in a locked tin can with nearly a thousand people on board.

Europe leads global EV growth as sales hit 20.7m in 2025
China remained the largest market at 12.9 million units, up 17%.
Mate I really don't care about what you reckon - the global market grew 20% in 2025 with growth in Germany and the UK at 48% and 27% respectively. www.fleetnews.co.uk/news/europe-...

I'm fully in favour of nationalisation, but it's simply not true to say we're the slowest and least reliable railway in Europe, and just a little bit insulting to the the tens of thousands of ordinary people who work very hard to keep it running safely.

Looks really promising up there! Hopefully some of the S109 money can be spent improving some of the ridiculously wide T junctions in the old village - it's only a matter of time before someone is hurt or killed there.

I drive past this at work most days and it always strikes me how well it's used, even at odd times of the night and in bad weather. A true asset for the area!

They've still been operating as separate siloes really - I'd imagine it won't be until GBR really gets going that we'll start to see the big benefits of having all the former TOCs and Network Rail being on the same team. It's a huge project and it'll take a good few years!

Arrived safely in Chemnitz, formerly known as Karl-Marx-Stadt, about 27 hours after leaving London. There's a half marathon today to celebrate Chemnitz being the European Capital of Culture for 2025. Sadly I fly home due to time constraints, but the train was a great adventure that I'd do again!

Must admit I haven't read the whole thing as I was just so appalled - that begs the question, what *is* proof of birth sex if not a birth certificate?
18.04.2025 16:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
Unless they require every suspect to bring their birth certificate with them when they get arrested, this is inevitably going to lead to situations where masculine cis women end up being searched by male officers and vice versa.
