Wishing a very Happy Diwali to everyone celebrating! πͺ
Diwali is a time to celebrate light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance.

Today marks both World Homeless Day and World Mental Health Day.
This artwork - created by a child living in temporary accommodation in Basingstoke - is a powerful reminder of the devastating impacts homelessness has on peopleβs wellbeing and mental health, especially young people.

All this is why I am very happy to co-sign this letter organised by Luke, a great champion for net-zero and fighting climate change. An important reminder that support for tackling the climate emergency remains strong inside Parliament and with the British public.

We need to be strong on climate leadership. This cross party letter tells the Tories how very wrong they are on this.

Thanks to Luke and @pollybillington.bsky.social for their work on this cross-party letter, which I have signed. The move away from cross-party consensus on climate change is frightening.

100+ MPs and peers - including Labour, Lib Dem, Green and SNP - uniting to back the UK's world-leading Climate Change Act π
A clear sign of the broad consensus across parliament that climate action is not just an environmental and moral imperative but good for the economy.

The green economy is growing, emissions are falling & air quality is improving.
There is still an immense amount of work to do to tackle climate change, but the worst thing we could do is to give up.
Proud to sign this letter, urging Kemi Badenoch not to try and dump the Climate Change Act.

Today, the Chancellor announced some brilliant new initiatives to deliver a renewed economy for a renewed Britain.
This Labour government will put an end to long-term youth unemployment, deliver a library in every primary school in England, roll out the Youth Experience Scheme and much more.

I am proud to be joining the Armed Forces Parliamentary Scheme. Basingstoke has a strong link to our Armed Forces, with many serving personnel, reservists & veterans here.
This will deepen my understanding so I can campaign more effectively for the support & respect our Forces & families deserve.

Jess Brady should still be here.
She went to her GP 20 times before her cancer was detected by a private doctor. By then it was stage 4. She was 27.
Now, introduced by Labour, Jessβs Rule means after 3 appointments GPs must stop, review, and think again ππ»
