Don’t look away from MN. ICE is still wreaking havoc across the state - changing their tactics to deceive Minnesotans - pretending to be construction workers or folks delivering groceries. Still over 2,000 ICE agents in the state. They’re not going anywhere, your anger and outrage shouldn’t either.

The question about what to do with DHS funding is nowhere near as easy as Kristol wants it to be, though Bernie already showed us how to defund ICE. Until such a vote can command 60 votes, the optimal outcome might be to include $1 of funding for both CBP and ICE, with all the requirements tacked onto it, applying it back to the Big Ugly boondoggle funds, because tying rules to funding is a necessary, if insufficient, tool to making Trump follow the law. Kristol has the luxury of scolding “scoundrel,” while throwing up his hands in hope that in 11 months Democrats will have tools to do something more, all the while letting ICE spend its existing billions unmolested.

I'm all for abolishing ICE, but I've been frustrated by the lack of an actual legislative method to do so. This seems like the kind of mechanism we need to start the process. Oh, and nepo baby, Bloody Bill Kristol is still a pinhead. emptywheel.net/bill-kristol...

My dad has come to an arrangement with the public pool in Nottinghamshire where he swims: after everyone else has got out of the pool, he is permitted to do a somersault before he gets changed. “THEY OPEN UP THE STORAGE CUPBOARD AND LET ME GO IN THERE SO I CAN GET A GOOD RUN-UP,” he said. NEW: A baby held in immigration detention became so sick, she had to be rushed to a hospital in severe respiratory distress.

“She was at the brink of dying,” a lawyer told me.

But the girl didn’t go home after her 10-day hospital stay; instead, ICE put her and her mother back in lock up at Dilley.
