For starters as a logical matter there is no universe in which this meets the intended purpose of reprogramming language

But as a legal matter you've got to have a valid appropriation to transfer the monies into

Congress appropriates some things on a multi-year basis and others annual

If you want something positive, I'd say that the current DHS strategy of using excessive force has been extremely counterproductive. Rather than actually detaining people, they're now spending significant time and resources dealing with hostile crowds wherever they go.

Nigeria is already struggling with the quality of fuel. In March, it limited allowable sulphur content to 200 parts per million (ppm). This is still higher than the 50 ppm recommended by international standards. But when reporters analysed fuel samples from Nigerian petrol stations in September, one was found to have sulphur content of 800 ppm.
This proliferation of dirty fuels is especially concerning in urban Nigeria, where diesel generators are ubiquitous.
"In Lagos, houses are built so close together that the generator exhaust fumes often blow directly into neighbouring homes. Combined with car emissions, the air quality can be terrible," said Otonye Iworima, who advocates for cleaner air in Nigeria's commercial hub.

I hate to do this to the X-47B since i love it so much, but the UCLASS program (which was set to operationalize the X-47B) was planned to cost $3.7-6B for development and fielding of 6-24 aircraft. That's $154M-250M per aircraft at the cheapest to $600M to $1B at the highest.

Can't tell whether there's a big pro-assad info ops going on in Bsky these past few days, or the trolls from Twitter have made their full migration. I have seen so many people refer to the rebels in Daraa and SDF as "Al Queda" (lmao) and "ISIL" ready to "remove rites of women and minorities".

In the movie Patlabor 2 the ็ฌฌ1้ซ˜ๅฐ„็พค (1st Air Defence Missile Group) based at JASDF Iruma is mentioned. It was a real unit under the Central Air Defense Force until disbanded in 2023. They had just transitioned to PATRIOT when the film released in 1993. It is now the Central Air Defence Missile Group.

And that's it for all the known units deployed to Tokyo during the "Security mobilization" of the JSDF during the events of Patlabor 2. There's a lot more to discuss but I made this thread due to the Korean martial law crisis and it was on my mind. ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E6%B2%...

1st division would've had a CBRN unit formed in 1992. They responded to the 1995 sarin gas attack and we see in Patlabor 2 a chemicial attack using airships so they're worth mentioning as well ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E7%AC%...

Type 2 APC, a 8x8 oddity with no real counterpart in JGSDF service. A designated recon vehicle (see ground radar) I treated it as a type 87 analogue.

Likely under 1st Reconnaissance Squad, 1st division [disbanded 2022]. Not mentioned in the movie but a plausible deployment.

Type 1 IFV (the in universe analog to the type 89) deployed on the streets of Tokyo. Most type 89s are deployed with 7th division up in Hokkaido though some are at the Fuji Training school at the Takigahara Garrison with the Infantry Training Regiment in Eastern Army's territory.

Type 99 Command Vehicle. An extended version of the Type 82 Command Communication Vehicle visually, it is presumably used by one of the headquarters unit of the forces deployed.

There's nothing particularly noteworthy of the trucks depicted in Patlabor 2 other than they are Type 73 Ougatas (SKW-464) identified by itโ€™s straight-edge cabover design and round headlights. Used by the infantry regiments to get around and other misc duties.

Interestingly 1st armored were never equipped with type 90s, only getting type 10 in 2012, 2nd Tank Company continued using type 74s, perhaps implying they were also deployed or another unit. (the type 74 here being a fictional variant with ERA, a CITV and a hunter killer sight)

There are more units involved but those are the named ones. Here we see a type 81 deployed to defend the diet building. Likely from 1st Anti-aircraft Artillery Battalion, 1st Division. Formerly under 6th Battalion, 1st Artillery Regiment [separated in 1992] not reflected in film.

The units named in Patlabor 2 which are moved into Tokyo are

1st Division
1st infantry regiment.
31st infantry regiment.
32nd infantry regiment.
1st artillery regiment. [abolished 2023]
1st armored battalion. [abolished 2022]
