I did not know that today at work I would become Winston Smith. It's April 23, 1984, and my orders today were to assist in "updating" official materials so that they comply with EO 14151 and EO 14168. Today's materials were specifically about training people for on-the-job coaching. This course was originally written to teach Inclusivity so that training would be Equitable to our Diverse workforce. I sent full pages into the Memory Hole, as they were incompatible with how things are now (and have always been). Certain words are "non-productive" and so were replaced: "discrimination" is now "unfairness" and "biases" is now "viewpoints". Certain specific laws about civil rights were previously explained over two or three pages, but now all of that has been trimmed to a mention. If the student wants to know about these laws, they need to look it up on their own time (if the information still exists by then). I'm just following orders. This is all doubleplusgood. I'm not a thought-criminal. Hail Oceania.
