Hmm, I guess featuring some broken porcelain pots I made earlier this year. I was just doing tests but these deformed and dunted in the kiln, and I kept their bits as a reference for next time I make this structure.

Turns out they are handy mantis transports, too!

A sweet mantis showed up in the front entrance of my apartment building, during morning rush hour. I rescued her to my balcony garden about 10 meters away, where she can leave whenever she wants.

There are a lot of tasty bugs here though, so I hope she chooses to visit for a while.

This totally explains to me how distasteful the Forsaken are when they think of the modern Aes Sedai and their Oaths, and Semirhage’s distaste of that possibility for her. They probably look at them and are like “oh my Dark, they all do this? Upon signing up?”

And, it gives my imagination faces 😅

Like, puffy filler lips, taut skin at the eyes and mouth corners that was nipped and tucked, rigged, botoxed forehead. It’s recognisable on any skin tone or face structure, does obscure the age at least, and would give any Aes Sedai away when they are traveling covertly.

A freshly constructed (I.E. still wet) clay pot. While I don’t have much faith that it will survive drying and firing (wrong type of clay, but I need to use the last of my stores of this clay up anyway), I enjoyed working on the textures. It is hand-built, and whether the photo shows it or not, in person one would notice elements that resemble wood bark and also fungal slits like you see under mushroom caps. There is lots pf thin texture that I hope will trap a lot of oxide colorants that I will rub on and wipe off, if the pot survives its bisque fire.

A second pot with similar construction goals as the first, though with double the clay (about a kilo) and much taller. Sadly, the clay was still too wet and too soft, so it kept slumping. It may crack during drying, or during bisque, or during its final firing, so I will not grow too attached to it. Mostly I am trying to rid myself of a too-finicky throwing clay so that I can start in on a new clay body I know I have more fun with.

Dang, no pot shots from me yet? I usually throw, but handbuilding is growing on me too now.

I was doing an ADHD virtual body-doubling session on Discord this morning, and these two pots emerged over two hours or so.

They may be doomed but I just want to be rid of the last of this clay, anyway.
