Book 59: River of Secrets by Erin Hunter. Bamboo Kingdom #2. I'm enjoying this series more than I thought I would. Especially Ghost. I love Ghost. Everyone should love Ghost. My stupid, precious boy <3

Book 58: Path of Fate by Diana Pharaoh Francis. Path #1. A random bookstore pick that turned out to be surprisingly solid. Reminds me of Paksenarrion and early Tamara Pierce. Nostalgic.

Of course, it's no surprise I like a book about bonding with magical animals.

Book 57: Creatures of the Flood by Erin Hunter. Bamboo Kingdom #1. I like the characters, but I feel like I spent 70% of the book waiting for the story to actually start.

Book 56: The Elders by Inbali Iserles. Foxcraft #2. I'm on a bad streak of horrible things happening to all my favorite characters...

Book 55: Lucky Duck by Chris Kurtz. Child Bullying Simulator: Bird Edition.

Book 54: The Taken by Inbali Iserles. Foxcraft #1. A delightful story about foxes. I like the subtle magic system that emphasizes the fox's trickster nature.

Genuinely powerful words to live by.

Book 53: The Mirrorwood by Deva Fagan. I love a good book that dwells within the discussion of fairytales. It's got fun characters (especially Moth), gods with their own agendas, and a colorful world. I'd recommend it for fans of Catherynne M. Valente's Fairyland series.

Book 52: Gathering Moss by Robin Wall Kimmerer. While less cohesive and expertly crafted as Braiding Sweetgrass, it's still well worth the read.

Especially if you like moss.

Book 51: Anomalies 53: Into the Shadows by Angela Cervantes. Anomalies 53 #1. I love the idea of Area 51 with monsters, but this was disappointing. Inconsistent characters, poor editing, and a lack of descriptions or interest in its own themes. At least the monsters are cool.

Book 50: The Wild Road by Gabriel King. Tag, the Cat #1. Some good ideas and some good passages, but it doesn't quite come together. At times, it needs more editing, and at other times, it just feels random and insufficient. I still enjoyed it enough to finish, though, and I want to read the sequel.

Update: I deleted the app because I didn't have the urge to return to it daily. It just doesn't have enough going for it if you're not willing to shill out a bunch of money.

Book 49: The Wild Robot Protects by Peter Brown. The Wild Robot #3. I like the journey through the ocean, but the climax is a bit weak. Still, I quite enjoy this series and would gladly read another. If you know a kid who likes robots and/or animals, check it out.

I played a bit of Cafe when it came out! I didn't get far, but the basic gameplay loop does seem appealing. I can see how people stuck with it all this time.

Yeah, they're pretty easy. I'm hoping they'll gradually ramp up the difficulty as the literal babies drop off, though I can't imagine they'll ever get super difficult.

Book 48: Silverborn by Jessica Townsend. Nevermoor #4. While I was initially skeptical of this book's premise, I think it comes together quite well in the end. I especially enjoy Morrigan's relationships with her mentors.
