I can see keeping the wording until the end of the cold war, but you would think in the 32 years between then and 2023 this might have come up
07.10.2025 19:11 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0To save a piddling 15 million quid, theyβre going to make an extra 17,000 people a year suffer for no reason
07.10.2025 16:20 β π 6 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0This is especially funny because what's there currently is an empty 7 storey office, a derelict shopping precinct, and a car park no one uses. What the residents want is the old precinct but profitable...
07.10.2025 14:23 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Local residents are up in arms about knocking down a shopping precinct which has been derelict for 2 years (and has been in decline for the past 30) and replacing both it and the office space behind it with housing

06.10.2025 18:58 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Honestly I think Renewal is good, though I don't read as much of it as I used to as I'm no longer professionally obliged. I remember thinking this was decent on the class politics of far right protesters

All progressive patriotism discourse has become this Simon Day bit
youtu.be/8lMexzk3TA8?...
On the actual hypothesis of the piece; a list of British things, most of which seem to just be adverts, the rest of which consumer choices & media feels to me a much weaker vision of progressive patriotism than anything that's been put forth on the subject so far. Which is saying something
06.10.2025 18:24 β π 4 π 1 π¬ 4 π 1I really don't want to sound cruel but this genuinely reads as parody, as if the concept of an open-minded tradesman is just so rare the information has to be passed on second hand so others can live the dream of striking up a conversation with them in the future
06.10.2025 18:24 β π 8 π 1 π¬ 2 π 0Doing the rant from the start of The Newsroom but about how Labourites seem to think the UK is the only country in the world with politeness

The Phenix features a rare German Buser movement.
The Rila is a great example of how brass wears over time (my guess would be 50-60 years) compared to stainless steel

Before I learned how to set pallet stones I bought a donor movement to replace the pallet fork. It turns out that the donor (right) has a different problem, where the original (left) has damaged shellac and loose stones, the donor's stones have been set too deep. So I can pick which one to repair...

12.08.2025 16:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0After much adjustment & readjustment this balance is running as it should. Mechanical watchmaking is not so very different to what it was almost 100 years ago, but it's now much easier. On modern, shock-protected movements this is a much quicker, relatively hassle free job
11.08.2025 19:04 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0This is the donor movement chaton, thankfully for me the cap jewel is fine. The silver in the middle is a broken balance staff pivot
