Too easy to slap a “Corbyn 2.0” sticker on someone, skip the evidence & call current mainstream policy debates “fantasy economics”.
No numbers or modelling. It’s vibes, fear-words and a playlist reference. If CityAM want to criticise wealth tax or nationalisation, fine; at least show your working.

This article isn’t remotely serious. It’s certainly not analysis either.
It reads like nostalgia served up for “the sensible centre” to make them feel warm and fuzzy.

Lights are going out across the Net for UK users.
Age verification is driving sites to shut down, geo-block the UK or restrict features and content.
In trying to tackle to worst of the Net, it's harming the best.

The UK Online Safety Act may be designed to stop kids looking at porn but it's written to stop anyone viewing anything that might be adult in any way without ID, and I wish they'd polled on that, rather than how the government wants to frame it

UK’s Online Safety Act is putting YOUR privacy at risk. Uploading ID or scanning your face to access gaming or messaging? It won’t stop harm - it creates new risks of identity theft, surveillance & weaker encryption. @eff.org + @openrightsgroup.bsky.social need to keep holding UK gov accountable.

The overwhelming desire for centralised federal control was never going to work. Technology is like water flowing through a maze, it always finds a path.
At least the CHIPS act made a start at on-shoring semiconductor production though.

If only the Tories hadn’t spent 14 years wrecking the NHS—maybe they could’ve treated their pre-2010 anterograde amnesia before it got this bad.
Thoughts and prayers for Telegraph columnists and a speedy recovery.

We need everybody to be making a contribution… we need to lift our game and to up our game.” There’s a history of Tories telling the public to buck up and work harder; funny how it’s never their policies, them, or their leadership that needs to be better. [2/2] #politics #ukpolitics

Asked if he thought a “belief in hard work” was missing today, Chris Philp (Tory Shadow Home Sec) said:
“I do a bit. There are nine million working age adults who are not working. And as we compete globally with countries like South Korea, China, India, we need a work ethic... [1/2]

It’s pretty a shocking statistic - hopefully it’s not a representative sample… Labour desperately need to improve people’s lives, and quickly, or we will be going down that very slippery slope.

surreal watercolor and gouache painting of a brown skinned girl wearing a white knee-length dress and white socks standing in a frosted pool at night. The background is a night with softly fall snow amid bright yellow leaves. Her left hand reaches out towards a moth, while her right hand holds a net; it's deliberately ambiguous whether or not she's catching or releasing the moth.
Happy Winter Solstice! 🌙✨

Better later than never?
I know people are mooting this as an alternative for wired Ethernet but… user devices generally outpace router adoption and users still struggle to get solid connections even back to WiFi 5 standards.
