i hadn't considered that angle but i do think he's meant to be cool in a way that undermines it a little.

just beat silksong and i can confidently say it's good. some really weird choices kinda for their own sake but overall it hits much more than it misses. pound for pound an improvement on the original even if it doesn't cohere as well IMO.

i don't think it's linear but it's easily *more* linear. not necessarily a bad thing but it's different.

that greenpath entrance gets you to the left side of fog canyon (wraiths, mato, qga, queen's station) but the right side where cornifer and monomon are is blocked off by a shade gate.

you need either shade cloak to enter inner fog canyon from the greenpath side or isma's to enter from fungal.

but yeah there's fs a lot that carries over! i'm having a great time so far tbc but enough people are crashing out that i'm morally obligated to dissect it a little

for monomon you do need either waterways or edge if you're not doing the crossroads acid skip, but yeah lots of routes are just for fun/upgrades. definitely fewer of them though i feel like.
