Raised by faeries, Aimé has grown too old to stay with his godmothers. With his dog Anatole, he must travel back to the human world to find his place among the humans he has forgotten. The fae, however, are never far...
'Aimé' is a wonderful new 132-page comic by L. Adassovsky, available now!
Since it's now news within our immediate circles, I can share: my partner got abruptly fired from his job (we had no idea it was coming; his boss chose to circumvent the normal steps you're supposed to go through to fire him while we were in Hawai‘i).

In a library at the end of the world, a historian meets War herself, and together they reflect on myth, memory, and what remains of humanity.

Haikyuu-Aoashi-Ace Of Diamond to me are a great triumvirate of Slam Dunk Successors that really really work. Slam Dunk re-sets the template from Kajiwara's Joe/Giants in the 90's, thus shaping the modern landscape.
I'd also rec Ping Pong if you've never done that. Tremendous.
Yeah, BE is a ton of fun. It's a very well-executed version of the 'basic' mode of the enterprise. At least, up to the point I read, as it's still not complete.

08.10.2025 02:12 — 👍 6 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Yeah, plenty. All older tho. I love a bunch of 'em, esp a lot of the 'foundational' originators that kinda laid down the template. From Fist Of The North Star, Dragonball, YYH, HxH, the Big Three broadly (flaws n all), FMA, Blue Exorcist, etc.
It's the modern well that feels dead/run dry to me.

I spoke with Makoto Yukimura about penning the final volume of Vinland Saga. We also spoke candidly about the J. Cole "I have no enemies" meme, my procrastinated tattoo idea, the state of the world, and how being strong means being kind. gizmodo.com/vinland-saga...

Every time I come back to his work, I find something else to appreciate that younger-me missed or perhaps didn't quite appreciate anywhere near enough.
A truly stunning artist.
Ishinomori man...he had everything.
Simply sensational.
You understand why Tezuka was heated and green with envy lmfao.
Such an impressive body of work fr.
I could post a lot about the different characters & scenarios, how this feels like the nexus-point of so many humanist scifi of the time, how it feels like a predecessor to even very recent works like Heavenly Delusion or Fire Punch...
But instead I'll make the wise decision:
This comic really exemplifies how Ishinomori, at his peak, I find to be one of those creators whose storytelling sensibilities, pacing and conveyance just is kind of timeless & intuitive. You don't need to make as much of mental adjustment, as this could almsot be made 10-20 years ahead of its time
07.10.2025 19:26 — 👍 20 🔁 3 💬 1 📌 0Since I haven't seen anyone brought it up yet, Ishinomori's Ryu's Road manga is phenomenal. It's from 1969 & doesn't feel its age at all.
I feel embarrassed as a fan to have taken so long to finish this, 'cause this feels like an unshakable cornerstone work & thesis statement.
ohohohoho
