This is a small snow plow for sidewalks

If your city plows the roads but leaves sidewalks up to property owners, your city hates pedestrians.

Oil is the most Lovecraftian thing that actually exists. You're telling me that there's a black ichor under the earth, made from the ancient dead, whose burning can realize all the dreams of man but only at the price of slowly returning the earth to its primordial state?

You can't enable emergency services with narrow bike lanes. Build them wide and eliminate the gridlock caused by the inefficient geometry of cars in cities.

People get tired if you post about “banning cars” all the time, so I try to balance it with lighter topics like “here’s a wonderful thing we can all enjoy if we ban cars.”

YouTube video by Senator Sheldon Whitehouse Sens. Whitehouse and Heinrich Explain How the GOP Budget Bill Will Raise Your Energy Prices

I think it would be wise to make this elected Democratic discussion on the fossil fuel industry and electricity costs related to Republicans' anti-science agenda go viral.

Curious about tiktok edits anyway #EnergySky:

Most North American cities that have a “Vision Zero” declaration have not actually done the work. Vision Zero works, but it’s not going to happen if we’re too afraid to inconvenience a single motorist.

Coming as I do from a BBC comedy background, I have a shitload of suggestions for how to make great television programmes more cheaply (such as not budgeting them at $10m+ per episode) none of which anyone is interested in.

They don’t want cheaper TV. They want cheaper people.

One of the things this whole panic makes me think of is (darkly) the skyrocketing wages and cheap property enjoyed by working people after the plague. It really doesn’t seem that bad in one if it does happen! And at least we wouldn’t have to endure mass death to finally get a raise

Our campaign is calling on the city to implement *immediate* safety improvements on Rainier. There have been 1,500 injury and fatality crashes on this street over the last decade. This is unacceptable. South Seattle deserves safe streets.

It is becoming increasingly unpleasant to be the customer of a giant corporation in the United States.

Every new technology seems to be used to further protect corporations from the rage of their customers, thus allowing the management to care less.

There's something called the Autocrat's Dilemma--autocracies are by nature inefficient because the main qualification for civil servants is loyalty, not competence. This is exacerbated by the autocrat's tendency to play his government departments against each other as they all compete for his favor.

When Moderation Becomes Appeasement If your chief goal is to find a middle ground with the far right on social issues, you’ll end up condoning its values—just ask Keir Starmer.

"Because reactionary centrists do not really have values, they struggle to understand the motivations of those who do."

A new pedestrian alley takes shape in Montreal’s Griffintown neighbourhood.

My most controversial Montreal opinion is that Griffintown gets way too much hatred, and that most critics haven’t actually spent much time there (at least not recently).
