Whenever I hear people talk about this it makes me think they’ve had precisely zero actual exposure to or involvement with the labour movement.

I genuinely can’t think of a legitimate use for these things.

Tourette syndrome activist John Davidson says Bafta told him β€˜any swearing would be edited out of the broadcast’ Davidson said he β€˜can’t begin to explain how upset and distraught I have been’ over slurs he shouted during the award ceremony

So the BBC promised Davidson and StudioCanal (who made I Swear) that any swearing tics would be edited out from broadcast, and instead they left them in despite a two hour delay, and even put a fucking microphone right in front of him to ensure they picked it up - he was sat at the back of room.

I’m sure there will be some companies in there you’re not happy with but they can fairly safely guarantee that it won’t be in O&G and arms manufacturing, which feels to me like the first two to try and strike off.

I’m very much not as knowledgeable as Jim, but I can say that VanCity was a huge help to me with navigating this. They have advisors who specifically specialize in finding funds that align with your values in their practices.

Like if some physicist showed up and said β€œall of of sociology is bunk and I know better” without having any actual knowledge or understanding of the field I think it’d be fair to dismiss them.

People do this to economics CONSTANTLY and we’re all supposed to pretend it isn’t silly for some reason.

I absolutely do believe in them!

And I’d object to someone leaning on their credentials as a scholar of linguistics or a chemistry while trying to write extremely heterodox and politically charged papers about grain supply dynamics as well.

Then I’m a bit skeptical of their abilities to analyze the complex dynamics of housing markets.

β€œCritical gentrification scholars” I’m curious what field of economics their degrees are in?

I think you’re being overly generous, a takeaway here is also that this person isn’t very bright and doesn’t recognize extremely obvious antisemitism (see: β€œbad genetics”)

There’s very real concerns I know from some indigenous nations, and obviously I wouldn’t want to see those ignored. I was more speaking to the point that β€œspeeding up mine permitting” is a very real thing that needs to happen generally.

A lot of the delays aren’t actually for any good reason.

In Ontario? Gold, nickel, copper, platinum group metals. New mining operations are largely looking at critical minerals, I know cobalt has some prospects.

22.02.2026 16:13 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Idk how Ontario is doing it specifically, but a lot of the processes for getting mines approved have become absurd, and haven’t been the changes that have made them safer for the environment or workers.

If Team Canada scores one goal a minute in the third period they will win the game 21 - 1.

I really want to see the distributions, but the papers I’ve checked on this don’t seem to show them usually. I’m curious how much β€œ100% gay” is throwing off the numbers too.

That makes sense, the way YouTube works too is odd in that the videos you made a year+ ago are still perfectly good but I’m sure they get recommended way less

20.02.2026 06:24 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I think it kinda makes sense, when it released I was new to it and only had a good time because of your content tbh, if I hadn’t found your videos I wouldn’t have lasted five minutes.

Everyone who’s played it for a decade has bought it now, it makes sense the reviews would be more mixed.

20.02.2026 06:22 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

My guess is that at release it was a ton of diehard fans who’d played it for years buying it.

And now it’s people buying it, jumping in the deep end, and immediately going β€œwhat the fuck”

It'd have been interesting to do this survey with a reward for getting answers right (and also control around participants cheating with that) to try and get people to actually try and be right.

That, and ask respondents what % of Americans own a nuclear submarine or are lizard people as a control.

Maybe I'm at this point being the one refusing to believe the data, but I just deeply struggle to believe that the people answering this survey saying they think 1/3 people is trans, or who thinks a large majority of people in the US are Black or veterans are taking it seriously.

Hi Emily, Diana Gibson here - I did not say that about this budget. I said it 10 years ago about Conservative governments in Alberta and Newfoundland that were privatizing healthcare and education, including privatizing adult basic education. 1/5
