Every now and again you will get a Dartford warbler pop up from the gorse bush.

So glad I started growing the tithonia. The butterflies love it!

I released four Monarchs yesterday. I think the one on the right is one of them, but the one on the left has been through some things. Missing a big chunk of a wing. But it's still flying! 🦋

The Pollockettes outdid themselves. It gets VERY busy.

Almost full moon, seems to have made a difference to insect numbers.

Monarch butterfly, seen on my walk today

Young Burrowing Owl squints in the bright Utah sun from the top of its sandy burrow in the shortgrass prairies of Antelope Island. It is a small brown owl with lighter-colored spots, long legs, white face stripes that make it look stern, and piercing yellow eyes.

The same juvenile owl sits a bit closer to the entrance of its sandy burrow and stretches its neck backwards, making it appear like its neck has a kink. It looks silly.

Sometimes you catch an owl making a pose that makes you say "oh I can see why multiple mythologies attributed wisdom to this bird"

And then the exact same individual will strike a pose that reminds you that they're just goofy little guys
