Play around with some different fueling options to find something that works for you well. I'm biased, but Maurten is hard to beat in terms of getting fuel in without any stomach issues.

Training middle/long distance, and team sports athletes can be more about aerobic conditioning, building anaerobic capacity, so shorter rest is more typical.
