ASICS has been hitting home run after home run with their shoes the last few years. Hope you enjoy many happy miles in these!

Yeah, they are going to be carrying a fair amount of residual fatigue into the marathon in 6 days!

Great point, everything is relative to individual peaks for overall volume and peak long run mileage.

I think it's difficult for a lot of people to trust the process and let less be more during the taper. It can feel like detraining!

Yessssss!!! So happy it's working out well for you so far. Or as Eliud Kipchoge says, "Footwear without fuel is nothing."

Oh yeah--that looks like a tough run from miles 8-14. BUT! Less pressure to run fast when it's just a hometown race! No travel commitments, so you can just have fun.

Sounds ideal! I'll be there for the running industry trade show the days just before the marathon (I work for Maurten, the nutrition company). I'm undecided whether to be at the marathon expo or not. Thanks so much for the recommendations! Let me know if you need any fuel for your training/race!

Sounds like the perfect repreive from the hours of conference center I'll be facing during The Running Event. I welcome any other city/area recommendations for running/birding. Never been to the SATX before!

Definitely adding a day to visit the zoo when I'm in town for the running trade show in December.

It only took one stage for Benjamin Thomas and Matteo Vercher to put on this bike handling display.

Pretty sure we need "Foucault? Fuck no!" added to the designs ASAP.

Classic. Love that ride. Donated some product for the raffle this year. Hope it was a great ride.

You can definitely "get away" without fueling much or at all during races up to half marathon distance. Play around with some different fueling options to find something that works for you well. I'm biased, but Maurten is hard to beat in terms of getting fuel in without any stomach issues.

Fueling is underrated as an aid to get through and adapt to training. ACSM guidelines are for 1-2.5 hrs aim for 30-60g carbs/hr. 2.5+ hours aim for 60-90g/hr.

As others have noted, 12-16 weeks. Longer is better as long as you are balancing the training load well and aren't risking injury.

A house in the neighborhood put up a "Trump for Prison" sign after their next-door neighbors put up a Trump flag. "Trump for Prison" sign disappears. The good guys buy a new one, put it up, and illuminate it so it's visible from their Trumpist neighbors' house all night long.

So training needs to be specific to the demands of the event! No aerobic demands = no aerobic traning necessary.

For example 30sec On, 30sec Off is a classic workout for spending lots of time at or near VO2max, but that's not useful to train for sprinters to train, since their training needs to be about max. acceleration, max. speed, and resistance to slowing down over the course of 100-200m.

18.07.2024 19:50 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Will depend on goals. Elite sprinters are usually training for maximum speed/power, and so will want full recovery of all metabolic pathways. Training middle/long distance, and team sports athletes can be more about aerobic conditioning, building anaerobic capacity, so shorter rest is more typical.
