still don’t. And some of the ones who know what you’re talking about AND what they want are actually wrong. (See, e.g., hating Obamacare but loving the ACA.)

Yeah, with very narrow exceptions, like simple questions with obvious answers like β€œShould we repeal the 18th amendment and make alcohol great again,” you can’t really know. Most of your constituents don’t now what you’re talking about on most issues, and many of the ones who *think* they do

One way to square that circle is to say that all of the bombing were morally indefensible, of course, but that’s not a typical position.

I mean, we firebombed Tokyo. And many other cities in Japan and Europe. The destruction was much worse from that than from the atomic bombs. It’s weird that we get all hyped up about Hiroshima and Nagasaki just because it was one big explosion instead of lots of smaller ones.

Because it isn’t being used to disagree with or distract from the idea that the bombing was wrong. It’s arguing that if you do believe that, you should also be pushing Japan to acknowledge what they did in Nanking. It’s sort of a non sequitur but it’s not whataboutism.

Right, Surprised Pikachu is not the proper reaction here.

I just worry that she’d lose to Schumer or Gillibrand and then she’d be out of office.

To pretend that’s some kind of nefarious conspiracy instead of…normal politics… is bizarre. They don’t owe it to Bernie to stay in and split the vote.

07.08.2025 02:23 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

But also, it’s not even rat fucking? I would have liked Bernie in 2020 but people dropping out to support the person closest to their views that has a chance to win is completely normal, even desirable. If republicans had done that, Trump would never have been President!

Remember in 2016 when Bill Clinton bumped into Attorney General Loretta Lynch on a tarmac in Phoenix, and that story of INSANE IMPROPRIETY dominated the news cycle for a week? Now we have POTUS, VP, AG, and FBI Epstein strategy meetings. www.cnn.com/2025/08/05/p...

That makes perfect sense.

I don’t understand because I knocked on doors for Bill Spadea (I know, I know, I was a college freshman excited about the College Republicans and he wasn’t yet a right wing extremist) in 2004 when he ran for Congress against Rush Holt (I think). People used to know how to do this.

I disagree that it’s hypocritical. It’s a totally reasonable decision not to unilaterally disarm while still pushing for a national law banning gerrymandering.

I don’t know. Hugo Boss and Mercedes Benz are both luxury brands. Collaboration doesn’t seem to have harmed them.

The only possible excuse is if this is part of Tim Apple’s portion of the Woke Business Plot.

If you live in/represent a Blue State, want to gerrymander the FUCK out of your state, support and are willing to fight for a national anti-gerrymandering law you are principled, consistent and doing exactly the right thing.

I was going to say I think you’re too optimistic given past failures to nuke the filibuster, but then I realized that if we do have a trifecta, it will only be because we’ve elected the right people. So I think you’re correct.

So let’s fucking gooooooooooo

06.08.2025 14:26 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

If we get enough younger progressives in a Congress with the right POTUS we nuke the filibuster (I wish Thune would just do it honestly) and then we make it allllll happen.

That’s not responsive to my comment. But to respond to you, what a shallow view of him. There’s no immaturity in wanting the rich to pay their actual fair share. Also, how are you against taxing rich people but also against rich people skating through life?

06.08.2025 02:41 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The fact that some people took that as anti-trans was mind-bogglingly stupid.

She also said that in response to an attack on her supporting transition care for prisoners, responding that that was a law Trump signed and enforced in his first term and she thinks we should follow the law. It was obviously not a statement that if the law were different than she would be too!

First of all, the Dems at the federal level can’t do shit to stop this if the FBI actually complies. Other than raise a big fuss (which they should do). It’s the state governments that have actual power here.

RFK Jr. backs down all the time when he gets push back, so if anyone wants to call, here's the HHS number 1-877-696-6775.
I'd also call your senators/reps as well.

Yes that’s why he said it’s critical to ensure Jews feel safe in NYC and the highest profile Jew in the city government cross-endorsed him, because he’s anti-Jew.

Maga’s era of β€˜soft eugenics’: let the weak get sick, help the clever breed At the heart of all Trump administration policies is β€˜soft eugenics’ thinking – the idea that if you take away life-saving services, then only the strong will survive

It’s called β€œsoft eugenics.” It’s as awful as it sounds and the maniacs are really into it.

We’ve discovered a literal miracle with almost unlimited potential and it’s being scrapped for *no reason whatsoever*. This isn’t even nihilism, it’s outright worship of death and human suffering.

By the end of a two term Democratic presidency in 2037, the Republican Party should be smoldering in ashes and decimated and Trumpism about as popular as smallpox and gout
