It seems clear—I think to everyone, now—that a false and illegal invocation of the Insurrection Act is coming before the end of the year. The current cohort of ancient house Dems in leadership isn’t helping. More should follow Jerry Nadler’s example and retire so younger leaders can do more than create soundbites.

We’ve seen almost all of this coming for about 20 years and the response from liberalism and the Democratic Party has essentially come down to “vote harder” and don’t do anything else. I’m not optimistic. Even if Dems somehow win in midterms it seems pyrrhic.
