17.02.2026 20:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0SayYesDoNo.com is my new side project, basically focusing on AI (and general tech) resistance stuff. Bit practical, bit theory, bit opinion. Contributions welcome if you fancy writing something.

16.02.2026 22:18 β π 371 π 112 π¬ 2 π 2I mean, there is a little irony in people lamenting the bullying of the Left given some of the institutional, state and media reactions to the Left over recent decades. Certainly in the UK and seemingly in the US there's been a lot of 'you are scum who owe I support and silence' from the 'centre'.
16.02.2026 16:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0BlueSky is radically less engaged in pushing the hate posting. Whatever Stancil is in I've only seen people reposting his comments on it, nothing against him. And my feed is pretty much solely political.
16.02.2026 14:45 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Not to knock Lib Dems but do remember one odd discussion with one that really highlighted that. They were telling me how Corbyn supporters were the worst people they'd ever met, until I pointed out a recent Far Right protest in the area which included C18 veterans and such luminaries as Lawrence Fox
14.02.2026 16:50 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Twitter gave them a platform. It also platformed virulent racists, anti-semites, misogynists and assorted bigots. Online abuse can be abhorrent, but always surprises me how readily Corbyn supporters are painted as worse than the likes of Tommy Robinson supporters and assorted neo Nazis.
14.02.2026 16:49 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0He was a fairly mundane social democrat, historically unspectacular. But suit yourself, I made my points, you've no obligation to engage with them.
14.02.2026 16:38 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0And Corbyn isn't even relevant to that. It's a whole system of judgement for thee but none for me around media and (certain) political voices.
14.02.2026 16:34 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0We get the same with the anti trans stuff, the anti migrant stuff, the anti woke stuff. Almost always ignored no matter how large the platform because it's all fine. A voice heard by millions is no more accountable, often even less so in fact, than anon734 on Twitter.
14.02.2026 16:33 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0His politics really weren't radical.
He was, consistently. And the idea that 'random media figures' are in the same category as posters and that their behaviour in inciting mass audiences should be excused is... a big part of where we are now. You can stamp down all you like, nobody will ever judge
It didn't, it worked wonders against Corbyn's supporters. Half a million people are, apparently, now remembered primarily as reflections of a few hundred toxic Twitter posters.
14.02.2026 16:27 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The vast majority of Corbyn supporters were very normal, new to politics types enthused by a mass movement. The media absolutely *beasted* them, as did much of the Labour party itself. Redefining such a large movement as encapsulated by whatever shit poster was loudest was a big part of that.
14.02.2026 16:25 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0a few years on absolutely no one in the former position seems to have been at all effected by their mad Red under the bed mania.
14.02.2026 16:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This is a period where major political and media figures were labeling random Corbyn supporters as thugs, Stalinists, a cancer... I don't think the rise of online abuse is anything good but it was framed by some pretty virulent hatred from those with power against those with absolutely none. And
14.02.2026 16:20 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0It's the one joy of the algorithm that, despite following you, I only ever seem to see mini egg related posts. The system works. Although I'm sure the other posts are great too.
10.02.2026 20:47 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Not exactly a stretch to be observe that people are jaded and cynical about our political systems. Whatever you think of one source (and Cyrillic isn't some big tell, Russians may have figured out how to use Google Translate for their propaganda...)
10.02.2026 20:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If he can't do anything about fairly basic domestic policy and foreign policy stances what's the point of him? He can't be effective and completely powerless at the same time.

09.02.2026 20:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Indeed, which makes the refusal to face up to the media either cowardice or a servile desire to be the 'pet'. Labour could act, they just never will. Anyone who might will be pushed or marginalised.

09.02.2026 19:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0There are numerous other examples but the attempt to hand over the nations entire cultural output to AI companies was probably the most egregious, even beyond the revolving door job market and soft soak treatment of corruption.
09.02.2026 19:57 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I agree, it isn't working, it never does. Not for the country, as the Mandelson magazine feature shows it can work well for individuals though. There's always another chance for one of the boys. bylinetimes.com/2024/07/23/l...
09.02.2026 19:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Yes, cowardice, corruption and the fact that it works pretty well for select politicians. Starmer has a clear majority, if Labour were willing they could act, whatever the screaming from the media. They won't because they prefer to work with rich owners.
09.02.2026 19:48 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Starmer has the ability to regulate the media.

09.02.2026 18:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We don't have a free press, we have an owned one. And with the majority Starmer has their opinion should be irrelevant either way. But Labour wants the access and jobs that come with being in the club.
